Hey guys,
I've been using Sonar 6 for the past 6 years or so (been using cakewalk since 99!!) and I'm checking out X2 since I'm thinking about building a new i7 machine, and WTF? why would they get rid of the edit module??
In Sonar 6 (and, from what I recall, every earlier version I've used) I can simply click on a button to copy, cut, paste, undo, etc... all things found under the edit menu. In X2, thus far, every time I want to copy, cut, or paste something I have to use the damn edit menu, and it's ridiculous. 
DOES ANYBODY KNOW ANOTHER WAY TO CUT, COPY, PASTE USING THE MOUSE???
If you're thinking of telling me to use the keyboard shortcut, please DON'T! I'm already selecting the clips with the mouse, I'm already looking up at the screen, I don't want to look down at the keyboard and reorient my hand coordination to copy and paste. If you use keyboard shortcuts, great. I typically don't, and this is NOT a post about which way is better.
I'm almost certain that the edit module is the one module I used MOST in Sonar, and now it's gone! Anyone who's been using cakewalk as long as I have knows how quickly we can edit our tracks using the edit module and knows my frustration. I want to believe that Cakewalk would not remove this feature without replacing it with some superior means of editing clips with the mouse, so, PLEASE, if anyone knows what this might be... HOW??? cut, copy, paste (paste special!!!!!) undo.... How do I do these things quickly with the mouse in X2????????????

I think they set it up to use with touch screens, so pulling down the menu with your finger since we're already looking at the screen makes it no big deal. I use all three, touch, mouse, keyboard. It just depends where I'm working from at the moment for which one.
 
I use to have the same complaint with MS Office, every version would hide a feature I depended on under a new menu after killing the original button. I just adjust. Not a big thing to do really.

However, I do think there is a mouse that has multiple assignable buttons you could use?

I strongly recommend reading the documentation for the various Tools in SONAR X2: http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR%20X2&Lang=EN&Req=Tools.01.html . Click the links to the specific tools to learn more about each one. The tools are very context sensitive to prevent you from having to constantly switch tools. There's a bit of a learning curve to it all though.

Adjusting from SONAR 6 to X2 has a learning curve definitely, but we didn't just swap things out without carefully thinking them over. The tools weren't designed around touch screens. You can do what you're looking to do, but there's a learning curve to how it works in X1/X2.

A mouse with assignable side keys is a great way to deal with this.  Ctrl + drag copies a clip to the new location.  I have ctrl & shift assigned to my mouse side keys and undo assigned to the wheel click.  Huge time saver!  It also makes using keyboard shortcuts much faster since I hold the modifier key with the mouse and only have to find one button on the keyboard instead of stretching in weird ways to get key combos.
 
In any event, I hardly remember using Sonar 6!  Once you get used to it, I think you'll like X2 a lot better.  I had to go back to X1 a little while ago to work on a 32 bit project that had been on the shelf for a while, and it even felt archaic.

Thanks for the replies!! Munis, I will definitely look over the tools document and watch that video, hopefully that will answer my question. Sethmopod, sounds great, but I'm not going to run out and buy a new mouse. Also, when I paste, typically I want multiple pastes, I'll paste 7 or 15 bars at a time. In Sonar 6 this was easy. While I appreciate all your responses, it would still be nice if someone could tell me how to instantly cut? Or copy and paste special?? (so I can paste multiples) quickly and without the keyboard?!?!  Please! I would love you forever! Thanks.

My bet is most use shortcuts, I do. It's by far the fastest way.

shortcuts, mostly all of us use shortcuts.
at first they seem hard to remember them all but once you remember a few, you remember a few more, than a few more.
before you know it you have memorized 50+combo keys to do all this stuff faster than lightning 

I use either the mouse or shortcuts, depending on where my brain, eyes, and hands are, and depending on how much sleep I've lost and the task I am performing.
