I use touch screen menus or keyboard shortcuts mostly. In fact, I didn't even notice the buttons were gone until I read one of these threads that popped up awhile back. Not sure how that happened, I do remember using buttons on other DAWs.

Shortcuts all the way here

Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V and Ctrl-X (and a handful of others of course) are standard across Windows and (all?) Windows applications.  Not knowing and using them will really slow down your general computer use, not just in SONAR.

I just figured if you were ready to build a whole new machine, a new mouse would probably be a reasonable thing to add to the build list.  They're pretty cheap and you'll find having the shortcuts be a side key on the mouse + 1 stroke on the keyboard, it will speed up your entire computing experience.

As for copy, cut, paste - I use shortcuts.  You can still get 'paste special' out of the edit menu.  The edit menu will come up on a right click, though.  You can get to it that way really fast without having to go to the main menu bars.

I can remember a few upgrades over the years where I sat fuming for the first week or so about how someone moved my cheese.  Invariably, once I got used to it, I found the new version to really be an improvement.

To copy press scroll wheel on mouse and make sure "smart tool" is selected, hold down ctrl and drag with left mouse. To delete press scroll wheel and select erase tool, left mouse click clip to be erased.

Keyboard short cuts. Far and away the most productive approach.

You know what? Why don't you guys just tell me how YOU cut, copy, and paste. (and undo, and paste special) Seriously. Let's take a survey.

I have interns do it for me

Personally, I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts with mouse gestures. ALT + CTRL are my two best friends. SHIFT is okay too.

The shortcuts I use most are for zooming. I have a terrible time zooming any other way. Ctrl+F is quite useful as well!

Another Side-Note, I found that I need to perform a Ctrl+Shift+A before I export anything to ensure I'll REALLY get the "Entire Mix". It's habit-forming. I despise short-cuts, but when I have to use them, I get somewhat comfortable.

It'll probably be another few years before I see a dire need for touch, but Skylight needs some tweaking for touch to be as useful as I'd want to see. Slate's figured that one out, albeit with a limited vision. I've suggested to CW a better way of doing this than Slate. I dunno if it fell through the cracks or not, though.

Right click - edit - copy
Move to paste location Right click  - edit - paste or paste special. No need to sit up straight and find the keyboard.
