Anyway... I'm gonna let this scan run and make my dinner. If anyone has seen this "Warning" before please let me know. Thanks.

I wouldn't remove MSE.

I agree with John. I would leave MSE on there. You can always set it so that it does not start up when you start up the machine. I just boot it up before putting the main audio machine on line for any reason. And then after that you can turn it off. I find MSE does a great job of trapping anything unusual if it comes along.

It is also good when clients put USB devices into your machine which can have all sorts of bad things on them. It will see it immediately and quarantine anything bad.

Oh I'm not concerned about MSE interfering with my recording. I'm concerned that it is ineffective for preventing viruses if this is indeed a virus. I've been using Avast for years on my heavy duty internet machines and it has never let me down. I only installed MSE because it was getting good reviews and Cake support recommended it as an unobtrusive AV. If MSE let something through though with the very minimal stuff I do online on the DAW and all the other security precautions I take... well that's messed up. Just kind of miffed because I was trying to do something and now I'm all freaked out. Cheers.

Can you take a screen shot (PRINT SCREEN and then PASTE into another programme) if it appears again as it would be useful to see what you are referring to

The discussion thread does not look like your normal forum discussion so I would proceed with caution with regard to the suggested fixes until you can confirm them but if it is this type of error message it may help you with finding a solution

Good Luck!

The other really bizarre thing about this is how similar the colors are to the X2 scheme. I don't see how or why Sonar would give a warning like that. I'm almost thinking if it's a virus it somehow weaseled it's way into hiding itself as the most commonly used program on the system. Just figured if it was just some kind of Sonar thing someone here would recognize it.

Nope. Didn't look like that and yeah... I wish I had snagged a screen cap but it there really wasn't much to it aside from what I described. Thanks though. If it comes up again I'll be taking a screen cap of it.

This thread is getting a lot of views rather quickly. I wonder if this is a brand spanking new infection and people are googling the symptom and being lead to this thread.

When I said I wanted to be a trendsetter this is not what I meant.

Download and run CCleaner.
Check installed programs for fishy and unfamiliar stuff. Uninstall them if found.
Download and run Malwarebytes (excellent program).
Run MSE scan.

I think Avast kinda sucks, but just my opinion. It let in a virus on me a few years back.
