I first record the HH in the first midi track lane.
I insert a second midi lane for the kick, arm to rrecord, then start recording but the HH midi track is muted so i cannot hear the HH while laying down the kick.
Is this the way take lanes were programmed to work in X2?
We can only hear the track thats armed to record, or is there a setting somewhere that will allow me to hear previously recorded midi or audio take lanes?

Thanks :-)

If you're using the auto-punch to record there is a box that says, "mute previous take" perhaps that is checked ?
You can press P and look at your record options and change it there or right click on the "record" button will bring up
the record options box. Make sure you have, "sound on sound, blend" ticked too and NOT overwrite/replace

Are you recording in to separate midi tracks because you prefer to edit that way or is there another reason ?

Im not using auto punch.
I have session drmmer on an inst track and seperate midi take lanes for the hh, kick, snare, toms, and ride parts.

I just tried it using your method and could hear the previous track.
Like I said, go to your record options and make sure "sound on sound" is checked.
Otherwise I'm can't say what the problem might be but it's working here.

Actually forget that.
I just changed my recording options to "overwrite" and recorded another midi track and could still hear the two tracks I had previously recorded. I never use your method so am not sure what's going on.

Has it worked this way before or is this the first time you've recorded this way ?
