I watched the first few minutes of the video and it does mention a fix for the same problem you posted early on:

Unfortunately, the fix didn't work for me!  (It's something I'd tried already, too....)  His next solution is to install another sound card.

Which, of course, I can't do, since I don't have one in the first place!  However, an audio interface should solve my issue.

Audio interfaces that would do the trick start at around $150, and a larger number are available for around $199.

You will want to make sure which ever one you get has drivers for Windows 7, and realistically Windows 8.

There are some with USB connections, some with FireWire, and PCI/PCIe.

I happen to use an interface with a USB connection - please note that many USB equipped audio interfaces do not play nicely in USB 3.0 ports, so just make sure you use a USB 2.0 port.

Just about everybody in the forum can help get you up and going if you have any interface configuration issues, so don't worry.

Audio Interfaces move the process of analog/digital conversion away from the CPU, in addition to having pre-amps and inputs/outputs and such.  This will make your CPU work much less hard to do audio processing in Sonar.

Hope that helps,

If you are looking for an audio interface I suggest you put Roland on your shortlist. A Duo Capture EX would probably be sufficient. The Quadcapture adds digital ports.

savioThanks!  This video may contain the answer.  Just previewed it, and it mentions the exact issue I'm experiencing.
That pretty much sums it all up.........I watched the first few minutes of the video and it does mention a fix for the same problem you posted early on:
It's the ASIO4ALL audio output that Sonar isn't accepting; going into "Prefences"-Audio-etc. simply tells me what I already know--no sound card output.
. Good luck I'm sure you'll get it working. To everyone else.....don't get yer panties in a bunch ladies. Oh and I have 2 hard drives and 8 gigs of Ram and..........

Oh dear..

And now it seems that the OP has already tried the solution in the video, and it didn't work.

And it appears he hasn't got it working with your help.

Having accertained that he using his internal sound card, by asking his specs, sensible advice to try an audio interface was given.

And one more thing. In your rant quoted above, you call everybody "ladies". Do you see that as a term of abuse? That sort of mysogenistic comment went out last century, but does tell me a lot about you, and your view of women, and people in general.

Have a good day.

There does seem to be a small subset of folks who just seem to be unhappy people, and intent on making the rest of the forum unhappy too.  It is rather annoying.

To the original poster - I hope you don't picking through the useless posts to come away with useful and helpful information.  Please feel free to ask away and many of us will do our best to assist you through whatever issues you come across.

I'm happy, hope you're happy too (all of you).

OP: I second the sound card recommendations. It is an investment that will pay you back day after day.

Your world will be a much nicer place with a dedicated audio interface. :-)

I'm happy, too, mmorgan, and happy to hear that you're happy.

I hope everyone is happy as well.
