Hi Guys, Had this working fine in 8.5, X2 reads that it's there, I have enabled it and set it up in control surfaces, and it even displays the correct tracks on it's screen. But the controller won't adjust anything back into the DAW, won't change volume or any other settings. If I move around the tracks using the mouse then the motorized fader will move ok, it just won't send anything back. I'm running X2 build 306, with a Liquid Saffire 56, Windows 7 SP1, I've also checked frontiers website and have the latest driver they did for this back in 2009. Thanks for any help, Martin

Ah this rings true for me because when I installed X2 I also had an issue with my Alphatrack.

I'd see that it was recognized and the track indicator colours were there, but I couldn't actually use it.

You will want to hit me, but I truly don't remember when exactly I did. I was kind of rushing to get it going because I hate wasting time troubleshooting, but of course make sure you've done a restart after installing X2.

Also, make sure that both the Midi in and out in the controller settings dialog are set correctly.

I am sorry, but feel better knowing that you aren't the only one who had to deal with this. I'm sure someone else will help much better than I!

It's working fine here with X2 Essential, 32-bit.

I only have a few qualms with AlphaTrack...

1 - When switching from bus to track, the last track selected isn't highlighted until you actually rotate the knob for track selection. or press a the track selection button.  However, all Alphatrack functions (knobs, fader..) do act on that track. This is a minor annoy - most likely an Alphatrack driver issue.

2 - No way to access bus pre-fade trim and pan, only post-fade pan.

3 - Values for trim and pan never arrive at true zero as seen in console. (it's using floating point internally..)

All of these are likely issues within the Alphatrack Sonar driver itself. I've built the control surface SDK sample to have a look see around, and it's a do-able job to writer a custom driver for AlphaTrack if I *really* feel like I want to. (I'm a SW Engineer..) The Alphatrack documentation is pretty straightforward.

Seems like Frontier Design is on hiatus or something, several of their products are no longer available from the biggies like zZounds or Sweetwater. (Heh, I noticed B&H closing out on X1-E at $49 - great deal especially with the upgrade to X2...)

When I double click the pan pot, it sets pan to 0.

I can control anything by
Utilities > Alpha Track (bottom)
Plugin mode > Cakewalk Act

EQ Stuff is all broken.

(Btw, you can use different settings for different processes... like one for PRV and one for mixing... one for recording where all the function keys do job appropriate actions.)

I know this from X1 : You have to follow the advice which is mentioned in 64bit driver installer of Alphatrack /TranzPort. I quote from the FrontierDesign Forum: >>>(ISSUE SOLVED) !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The trick is to follow the download instructions for Windows 7 64bit and install the sonar plug in, Then download the 32bit plugin and follow the read me instructions for the 32bit plugin with one exception!!!!!!!! the instructions mention renaming the file Alphatrack64.dll and then doing a reg edit witch always failed. So I renamed the file AlphaTrack64 minus the .dll and it worked. And now my AlphaTrack works like it is supposed to!!!!! yey! <<<< Since I've done that, too, Alphatrack and TranzPort work flawlessly together on my 64bit machine, no matter wether it's X1 or X2. When I double click the pan pot, it sets pan to 0.
Well, of course, but that kind of defeats the purpose using the Alphatrack surface to set it to 0, no?

Not sure about the EQ. I'm using X2 Essential, so the EQ defaults to the Sonitnus EQ. Alphatrack can turn on/off, set slope mode, set the Freq, Gain, and Q for the first four EQ points (points 5 and 6 do not appear to be accessible through the Alphatrack). Dragging the curves around on the track's EQ display also modifies them as well and the updated values display on the Alphatrack as well.
However, I'm guessing that those with Producer have busted EQ functionality with the Alphatrack. (Maybe because original cakewalk driver produced by Frontier preceded Sonar X1 and the ProChan changes default Sonar EQ behavior?)
All of this is fixable - it's just a lot of work to do a driver from scratch, even if you have the SDK. I'd love to have Frontier's source, it be a snap to fix things up.

Indeed.

I hadn't noticed that before.

It works well, thanks!
