  • New [to me] color feature in X2?

The new "Control Bar" video has something I have not seen before: color variation on the left edge of tracks (yellow and green).

Is this a grouping feature I've been missing all along, or a sneak-peak at a future enhancement?

Could be indicating that these tracks are assigned to a control surface?  Mine are orange!

Ah ha, probably a control surface!  Good call.  I was hoping I had missed a much-needed color feature.  Cheers.

Yes, that has to do with control surfaces. The feature is called WAI (or Where Am I?). The different colors designate which surface is controlling which tracks.

I just watched the video myself. It was rather informative having hearing it and seeing it with a video rather than reading it myself in the help pages. I seem to learn better this way!  ...And I need to start using that Dim-Solo feature!!!

I will agree on the control surfaces being active causing the yellow color on the far left of the screen. And yes, the Sonar default is orange. He did change the active-track highlight from blue to yellow though. That's nice and bright.

I do see in the video that the MIDI and Audio channels have had their name-text recolored in the preferences to green and red, respectively. However, it should be noted that the text-background still remains dark gray. Maybe they didn't bother, but changing this background "block" to a different color does not work and is a bug. Yet another Feature Request I have submitted--make all the color options work!

How did they change the type of font used in the track names? That's not the default font, is it? I tried changing all fonts via Windows 7 personal settings but the font for track names remained the same.

Looks like the default font to me, just a different color, chosen in the color customization preferences.

I tried that, as well as changing the pixel ration for the display.  CW should add an option to change the font sizes.

Maybe you already know this, but if you just want to change the font size of track names (to a smaller size only), go to Preferences > File > Initialization File, and enter "TVLargeStripNames" in [Option] and "0" in [Value] and click [Set]. For bold font, it's "TVBoldStripNames" and "1".
