By assigning, do you mean changing the outputs or setting up a send?

I second this motion.

Sends are terribly broken for me and I'm on Windows 7. My default template has 4 sends per track and every time I try to reconfigure a send it goes completely crazy and reassigns the wrong selection. Many fiddly clicks later and I might get what I want. If I'm lucky.

It's enough to make me demo some other DAW's sadly because I started on analogue desks and the send is a key component that has to work quickly and accurately.

Funny how one little headache can be such a frustration. Guess the creative flow is a cruel taskmaster at times...

I'm talking about selecting a buss for a track output

There is no way any Cakewalk official can track all of the problems presented in this forum. No way--we're all over the board with problems! The best way in my opinion is to either send a Problem Report or a Feature Request.

I am in agreement with your frustration, and I too have a problem with the way Sonar handles SENDS. Setting up is fine, but troubleshooting is a frustration (i.e. going back to either modify or remove a send). Because of this, I did in fact submit a Feature Request to have a CHECKMARK put next to the actual send that is set up in the drop-down list. The default name in the menu (unopened) is one thing, but not having an indication which one is "on" in the list is a little dumb.  I recommended adding a highlight or checkmark to make life easier, especially when multiple sends are set up on a single channel.

FWIW
I had the same problem. If I so much as touched a bus.... Boom! White-out crash!
Loaded the project in safe mode with no plugins.... no problems.
Started the chore of tracking down which plugin was responsible and finally got it tracked down to an illegitimate, bootlegged bundle of plugs. Got that off my computer and I now have no X2a issues whatsoever! None! Totally stable. (Knock on wood!)

Had same prob  but can work around it.
I stop project playing, add bus from bus-pane (click in empty space next to an existing bus, select 'add stereo bus', save project, then assign track to new bus, done.

good luck.
