Hello,
I use a lot of automation in my project and when I have to create a new automation line for a VSTi that has a lot of parameters, I have to find it in the list of all the parameters and it's just a very hard work...
Is there another easy way to have the list of the parameter ? view in a list ? with a search or filter option ? Drag and drop ?
Hope you will be able to help me...

How are you doing it ?
Some plug ins and VSTi's will give you a "named" list of parameters, like dimension pro, if you right click in the
audio track and choose envelopes you'll see dimension pro listed, clicking on that will give you a list.
 
Other plug ins have to be automated via NRPN and they will be numbers which you need to assign within the plug in. I'm guessing it's those that you're talking about ?
I'm not keen on that method either but I don't think there is any other way. I don't know if it's possible and I did submit it as a feature request a few years ago but if sonar allowed us to right click an envelope and name that envelope that would be a big help for me as I often forget which envelope is doing what.
 
Which plug ins/VSTi's are you using.
Another method is to have a midi controller and use, "midi learn" then it will automate whatever knobs and faders you move in real time and record them.
 
Others may give you a more technical and thorough explanation but I think that's roughly right

For obscure parameters, I enable write track automation, hit play, and  twiddle the nob I want an envelop for. I do this outside of the range of impact - like beyond the end of the last wave file. This creates the new envelope which I can add my automation to.
 
For adding pan and volume envelopes, I select all tracks and control click and choose volume. To ensure the envelopes remain, I highlight a short range in the time-line and then on the top track right click and choose 'add nodes at selection'. When all tracks are selected, it adds 2 nodes at the beginning of the selection and 2 nodes at the end of the selection on every track in the project. This pins the envelopes.

I use synthmaster or Z3TA but for these synths, the list is so big that finding the parameter is not an easy game...
Writing automation to create the enveloppe, that's a good idea ! I will try this method in the future.
But I think that the way of displaying the list of the parameter could be better if it was done in a specific windows than in the actual listing.

I would probably use the Write Automation method even if Sonar produced a huge text list (don't they?). I know that in the track inspector there is a drop down (same one you find clip, volume and pan in) and through that drop down you can run in to all kinds of FX and automation related parameters. I just would NEVER find what I was looking for and might well end up automating the wrong thing. If I can just see it and twiddle it, I know what I'm going to automate with my new envelope.
 
This doesn't solve Twaddle's issue of ??What is this enveloper for?? I suppose you can expand envelope Lanes (is that the right way to say it) and see a separate lane for each envelope now. Can you not see what the envelope is applied to in that view? I can't check right now b/c I'm on my Linux computer. I also don't often face this problem as I have only a few extra automation lanes beyond pan and volume.
 
Twaddle, how do you currently discover what envelope is for what?
 

I don't know if this will help but in the track view, click Display, in the bottom left corner, select Module Options, then FX, then Show Assignable Controls.

It took me 20 seconds to look them up on Google, searching for "midi cc numbers". Here is one site out of many thousands with that information. Find a site you like and save it or bookmark it, is my suggestion.

These are the generic meaning, it's not always the meaning for the softsynth that you are using.
I thouth that you used midi learn to assign your CC controller to parameters of your softsynth. With this method, you can assign any parameter to any CC controller without taking care of the list within your link.
