I know this is a newbie question..... I just can't figure out how to do it.  I'm recording a song for my friend's album.... he originally had a longer first verse.  He decided he wanted to cut the whole verse, begin the song on the second verse.  Pretty easy, right?

So, I delete all the audio and MIDI in the measures he wanted cut.... now, there's about 40-50 seconds of silence and the song begins where he wanted it to begin.  So, how do I get rid of the measures where there used to be music????

I had real difficulty with this for ages because the option for "delete hole" was always greyed out in the dialog and I couldn't work out why. It works for me these days though.

One method I use is select all ctrl + a and with snap off grab the tracks and move them over to the start.

If you are using the smart tool, which I recommend, you should grab the top part of the track 1 and this will move all tracks.

Thanks everyone, I figured it out.  There really should be an easier, more efficient way to do this.  My only major gripe with Sonar!  Well, Staff view.... nevermind.  LOL!

Delete Hole is usually greyed out if there is nothing on any track in the area you wish to delete (at least in previous versions). I would get around this by deliberately leaving something in there, by just quickly putting in a note in piano roll on one of the tracks, or by dragging a clip to extend it into the area I wanted to remove.

Kludgy workaround, but it worked for me :)
