Hi folks.
I am trying my best to hold back from posting a furious rant about how Sonar X2 and its many bugs have stifled my creativity, ruined my bank balance are now ruining my quality of life. But I won't. I will attempt to be specific about my problem.

I have had no end of trouble with X2 - mainly around operation of the Pro Chanel which when altering ANY of the controls would cause playback to freeze and buzz and drop out. I have read/posted in numerous threads about what might be causing the issue - Cake support have been walking me through some stuff. I feel like I've tried everything. Buffer sizes, DPC latency checker - I have played around with USB connections to test if my USB ports have been sucking away power - NOTHING.

THE MOST CONFUSING THING OF ALL: My problems are intermittent. By days, weeks. I have just enjoyed around 2 weeks of bliss. Pro Channel working much smoother. No problems with Sonar at all. And then BOOM. Now, for no apparent reason and seemingly completely out of the blue, when I change between screensets - the audio freezes and buzzes and throws MIDI date off (for e.g. where I've used a sustain pedal, the sustain continues forever until I stop playback which 'resets' it.)

Fearing it was because my project is too large or has some CPU gobbling plug in in it, (which shouldn't really be an issue on my machine unless using 'look ahead' plug ins like BOOST 11) I bounced every single track down to audio and deleted all other tracks. All going through to a Master with nothing on it.
When I hit playback - EVERYTHING froze. It just couldn't play back at all.

Now, the only thing about my set up that I've 'changed' recently is that I've purchased a USB 3.0 external hard drive. This was because my other hard drive wasn't fast enough. My PC is new and has USB 3.0 ports so I figured I should make use of them. I store my projects entirely on external hard drives which means streaming the audio from them in real time when in projects. COULD THIS BE CAUSING A PROBLEM? It's definitely quick and appears to be working fine. I have played audio projects TWICE the size of the current one from external hard drives TWICE as slow.

I am completely at the end of my tether. I have produced NOTHING since purchasing Sonar X2. I can't finish projects, I don't even feel like sitting down for a session anymore because of a fear of stepping on another bug landmine in Sonar. I feel cheated. If someone can help me out, I would be eternally grateful.

I feel your pain,

Your story is similar to mine, I have also been working with Cake to try and sort it......but nothing works.  I wish I could help, I will be keeping a close eye on this thread.

I do feel for you - I know how frustrating it can be to be troubleshooting when you want to be creating.

Do you get the same behaviour if you save projects to the internal drive?

I haven't tried that yet, but I'm currently exhausting another line of enquiry.
Have downloaded 'LatencyMon'.

Does anyone know anything about a 'rdwm1027 driver'? It has 'Roland' in it's description. According to LatencyMon it reads as the highest execution level of them all. When you Google it, lots comes up so it must be significant...

Anyone?

I wouldn't be searching much further than saving on an internal drive, have you tried that yet?
just give it a shot.
if you have auto save set to on/ turn it off for right now.

As I said in post #3, try using the internal drive and see what happens, even if only to rule that out.  It won't take much to try, but could solve your problem quickly.  I have seen people, including myself, have problems with USB drives.

Since you are running Windows 7, you can download and run DPC Latency Checker, as well.

It will show you latency spikes in your system.

Run it with Sonar NOT running, to see what show up in the base system.
