Hi all!
Here's my 1st tune using Platinum.  It's kind of an urban jazz thing that I was trying to showcase the Heavyocity DM-307 Drums module (the Urban kit) and also the iZotope Breaktweaker beatmaker plugin. There's also some Addictive Drums 2 electronic drums laying down the backbeat.

The "grit" you will probably notice is from the Urban Kit drums...not clipping.  LOL

Guitars used were a Gibson Les Paul Standard for the distortion guitar, an Ibanez AFJ-95 jazz guitar, and a Gibson ES Les Paul (hollow) for the clean lead.

Hope you like it.  Comments welcomed.

As usual, I have a "surprise ending" on this one as in several of my other tunes.  Wait for it....

Thanks Daryl.  It was fun...despite a few computer/Sonar glitches.  The DM-307 is a hoot all by itself!

Smooth licks.  I don't get into the songs forum as much as I used to but decided to drop in and have a listen. I'm glad I did.

There's not a lot to critique here. It's all executed rather well.

Very smooth all the way around. I might push the bass up just a hair, that would be about it mix-wise.

the ending was completely baffling. Didn't see that coming! Where'd everybody go??!?

cheers,
-Tom

Slick production, very nice lead guitar work. I like how the end wounded down (slowed), like someone rested their hand on the turntable.

Only two minor criticisms: The crash seems a little too loud at 3:38, although that might be what you intended, that crash does sound great. The bass needs to be lifted a little in most parts however, there are bass peaks here in there so watch out you don't exceed those peaks further. I would prefer to use a volume envelope to keep those peaks as is whilst slightly bringing up the softer parts.

Cool groove, slick melodies, nice wide open mix. Enjoyed this!
Best regards,

Tom and Greg... I really appreciate those critiques.  I struggled with the bass a bit, as it was an experiment of mine to use 2 totally different bass types in the song...  the "verses" have a stereo/delayed bass (Zeta3), and the "breaks" use a very mono centered one., yet the frequencies are similar.  Was a little hard to balance them and maintain the stereo effect and not sound like 2 songs joined together.

Greg- can you explain the term "volume envelope" a little for me?  Not sure I know what you mean.
I think that crash came from Battery 4... and I'll bet I forgot to go back and lower its volume in the kit.... I find most of Battery's samples to be pretty hot right out of the box.

Daniel-  thanks for the comments!
