Have you tried opening projects in safe mode? It will help you to find out if a particular plug in is to blame. Also, if a project opens fine in safe mode, try re-saving it under a different name and see then if loads ok in normal start up mode.

Hi Stephen,
it´s just a guess into the blue, but the scene you describing, like others wrote here,
could  be a hardware or os problem:
1.: have you tried all USB connectors?
sometimes usb connector cable are not strong enough ,broken aso or/and some/all usb ports don´t deliver
the whole range avaiable.
2.
Is it possible for you to try a fire-wire  interface (sure with a  firewire express card with TI chip)?

good luck

The above is a good call. Try also opening sonar up without a-500 connected if powered by USB

Hello all.  I am a long-time lurker, but this is my first post. I've decided to come out of the shadows to states that I too am having these problems. Overall, it is very frustrating.  Cakewalk Tech support through the Problem Report is indeed helpful, but so far I am still having issues.

My issues in the past were Sonar Producer 64-Bit constantly crashing; with the latest crash before the most recent reinstall of Sonar as the Console Emulator freezing up...as indicated in the Windows Event Viewer.  After advice of Cakewalk, I did a complete application, content and registry-key removal, then a complete re installation.  This time around, I am using very little 32-bit plugins in my projects, but still use some of the professional and "solid" types out there (i.e. I refrain from using SynthEdit or SynthMaker plugins).

My current crash scenario is after about 10 seconds of opening a project and then hitting PLAY.  My starting project consisted of two instances of 64-Bit Microtonic and one instance of 32-Bit Synplant.  Event view reports "faulted modules of " C:\Windows\system32\mfc110u.dll" and also (a separate crash), "C:\Windows\system32\GDI32.dll."

I don't want to give up, but the constant errors and crashing is killing my creativity, which is already hanging by a thread in the first place!

Any help is appreciated.

Well, I perhaps found the "workaround fix" to my problem, similar to Stickman393 in his response.

After restarting Win7, and opening the project again in Sonar, the project did not crash. This is good! Now...I sleep my computer a lot.  Could that perhaps be a problem with Sonar?  Perhaps those critical Windows DLL's didn't wake up properly to be used by Sonar?

yes, sleep can be a problem for DAWs. Better to shut down than sleep or at least reboot before using DAW

Have you submitted crash dumps via the problem reporter? If so please list the CWBRN numbers.
Often the dump file will shed some light on the cause of the crash.

Read my reply at the other Crash post.

It is all about getting things all set up properly.

just remember to unplug any devices before computer goes to sleep and/or plug, replug the devices in once comp has totally woke.

Back to the OP. The UA25EX from Roland/Cakewalk is not a USB 2 device, it a 1.x device. I had issues with mine and gave it to a friend. After I picked up my quad capture things became more stable. THe other issue can be USB port power loading. Each port is designed to deliver 500ma of power. Both my A-500 Pro and quad cap pull 500ma by themselves. I have to make sure each one is on a USB port with no other devices.
