I'm right on the brink of abandoning ship. I've had one of those nights. I use a lot of Waves plugs and Guitar Rig effects chains and both of them have serious problems with Sonar, at least on my machine. Some time ago I had a problem with Sonar resetting these plugs every time I open the project. It went away for a while and now it's just randomly come back, without me changing anything. I've opened a bunch of projects tonight and every single one of them had all of the Waves EQ's screwed with, either completely zeroing out the settings or turning off the bands or changing hi pass filters to band pass filters. Some of the settings I'll never get back and it's basically kicked my mixes back to square one after weeks of work. Same thing with Guitar Rig effects chains....all settings zeroed out. I am so freaking mad right now....this and many other oddities, bugs, corruptions and plain design flaws have just left me too sour to rule out a change to Cubase or something else. I wouldn't have minded so much had the Bakers kept us in the loop regarding bug fixes, update plans etc, but they're not going to bother are they. No amount of protesting on this forum is going to make one of them chime in and say "listen guys, we know there are issues, we're working on it, you should see an update in before the fall" or anything like that. So I think we've gotten the message.
I can't work like this. And it's just a hobby for me at this point! I cannot imagine what it must be like for those of you whose livelihoods depend on it. I opened 6 projects tonight and the mix is ruined in every single one of them. Last night I bought a couple of Waves items in the sale and spent most of the night trying to get Sonar to recognize them. Anyway, I'm about done.
Hi my friend! Do like I did. Change to Cubase 7, you wont look back.Let me tell you; its the best thing I have done in long time. I'm so pleased so even invest in Steinberg CMC control system. Never ever have one single crash yet. Can' t say that about SONAR.I can also remotely record any of the Artist I working with in any Record companies studio in LA remotely (without any latency) tracking directly into my Cubase 7 DAW in 48kHZ , 96kHz 32bit when I working example in New York-studio. All this with help of Cubase 7 and
"VST CONNETC Performer" system that are free to download to use for the ARTIST/ STUDIO even if you don't own CUBASE.
Cubase 7 / Nuendo is one of the advance professional DAWs on the market. Glitch free audio, External inserts with hardware's like Compressor, Effects work without any round up latency on the system (SONAR is a disaster regarding that functionality), VST3, professional Score, VIDEO, Pro-MIXER, Meter functionality. K- support all professional standards even for broadcast, VARI audio 2.1, Build in "Melodyne", Tighter audio, Tighter MIDI. Working with 3part plugins softwares is like a dream. professional Automation with smart functions and curves, Take lower CPU VS SONAR same project and plugins-(check on my projects)...and on... The built in "EQ" with analyzer sounds outstanding like same as SONAR Pro Channel EQ.
And by the way, you don't need to do any "work around" or anything. Cubase just work as it meant to do with WAVES plugings, Native Instruments, Spectrasonics or Melodyne etc... Simple things as loop with Melodyne that fail in SONAR of course work in Cubase 7. Also all large professional DAW system on the planet support Cubase 7 Nuendo 6, Cakewalk doesn't even support their own control system?
Just as I jump on aboard we have had 2 major update already with graphic and bug fixes. 7.0.4- 7.0.5. 7.0.5 come like for 3 days ago. Steinberg has already announced a new 7.0.6 with many new ICONS in mixer-view and many new GUI enhancement but also more new functions to the program for free.
Cakewalk has not announce once single update this whole year, the last was since 12/18/2012.
Now Cakewalk talk about paid update X3?
You can make you own conclusions...
