TH2 effects on/off

When I'm using a TH2 effect on my lead guitar solo it has backing noise and hiss which is part of the effect, especially if it's a crunch or distortion. When the solo is finished, how do I eliminate the TH2 effect to rid the noise on rest of the guitar track? The TH2 effect stays on during the whole track start to finish. I know I can mute the TH2 manually when needed but that's not going to work when I save the project. Suggestions?

There is a very effective gate in the global Master section of TH2. It should be set every time especially with distortion (I believe this is mentioned in the manual). Just adjust it until the hiss just barely goes away with your guitar turned up to recording level but with your hand muting the strings. Your effected signal will still be nice and full.

The TH2 has an effective noise gate built into the master panel that might help. As far as turning the plug-in off and on, TH2 does not have that feature. You can put it in a FX chain with does have an enable/disable capability. There are other ways such as split up the track and put TH2 in the clip effects bins or break the guitar track into multiple tracks or use sends.

Must be getting slow. Usually I refresh to see if someone has already posted before committing my post. Did not do that this time.

The TH2 Master gate can be automated too.

In general I like TH2, but I think their gate sucks. I don't use much distortion (a little crunch), so it works fine for me. Once you've recorded a track automate the fader - start off with volume off, bring it up before solos & down after.

I do not use the gate stomp box but do use the gate setting in the master panel.

It just needs to be set very very carefully. One little bit too much or too little and yeah... it won't be so great. It is a very hard gate.
