Who uses the VX-64 Vocal Strip and what do you think of the plug?

I use it sometimes and it is fine.  There are several of the modules I like - the upward expander and the doubler (nice interface).  It is mostly a convenience thing, everything in package, but I'm using the prochannel mostly and usually use a high quality reverb on the vocal - at least the main vocal.

I find myself using VX-64 Vocal Strip on most projects, I especially like the Male Vocal presets to quickly dial in the type of effect I'm looking for.
To me, the doubler seems only useful on background harmonies. Wish it had a high quality reverb built into it, for one stop vocal shopping.

I use it mainly for the de-esser.
I'm not a big fan of the EQ or the compander
The saturation faders can be useful at times

Im actually a very big fan of the built in delay on this plug in.
it has a retro 70s/80s sound about it that is sought after for some applications in my studio.
I also have used it on acoustic guitars and some wind instruments with very good results.

so the expansion doesn't stop there.

I often use it for commercial VO work.  The doubler, like most plug-in attempts at such things does not sound like true doubling. It can be useful though if used on low settings as a thickener.

Well, there you have it Bent.  Taste and workflow.  Everybody seems to like some modules and use them, and everyone has different opinions about the same ones.  That is the problem w/ "all-in-one" apps.  Use it, find what works for you and slowly you'll replace some of the built-in effects w/ others you find work better for your ears or workflow.

I use it for the de-esser, and for adding saturation to the high frequency on vocals.  I sometimes use the delay and the doubler.

As others have commented, the doubler doesn't sound like doubling, but can still achieve a nice thickening/widening effect.

I, also, use it on other tracks than just vocals.

I used VX-64 a lot before Pro Channel came along, and for those without PC I highly recommend it!  But for me, everything is better represented in the PC for what I use:  compressor, expander, eq, ocassional saturation.  I rarely used its delay: it was not flexible enough most times. Never used the doubler: always sounded phasey and weird to me.  I still use it only for the de-esser nowadays, though I wish Sonar had a better one.

At AT..........I tend to think I would get similar response if I asked the question about the PX-64 Percussion strip, TL-64 and TS-64

Thanks everyone for your input.
