The VX-64 has a preset called "generic lift" which I use on acoustic guitar to bring it out in a mix.  Other than that, I rarely use it as other plug-ins usually carry the load.

I use it. I like the doubler for thickening as other have said. Never sounded like a doubler!
 
I also like the saturation on the ins/outs, that works nice sometimes. Used sparingly it works very well.
 
I also am not a big fan of the eq though. As I found the eq on the VC64 very good, I guess that spoiled me! Also I like the compressors on the VC64 better too!

I wish they would make VC64 64-bit.  Since the company that made it is now out of business that is unlikely.
