CD Architect/Sound forge is a great combo. Pyro is quick, tho it has messed up MS Word on several computers, so be warned.
Still, if you have the money CDA is what many pros use. Sound Forge is available as a "studio" version w/o all the effects and is cheap. A couple of weeks ago the entire studio collection (including vegas video editing w/o effects) was available for sub $100. My full versions have paid for themselves many times over, are easy to use and still as deep as necessary.
Get what you can, you won't be disappointed.
