Still liking that Eventide UltraChannel and even the WaveArts TrackPlug.

I've never been a fan of channel strip plugins, preferring to build my own chain out of favorite individual plugins. When you cram many functions into one processor, you always compromise something - less control, smaller UI, limited chaining options.

That said, I am a fan of iZotope's Alloy 2. You don't always need maximum flexibility. Sometimes, all you need is some gentle EQ, compression or distortion. Alloy is easy to use, and only eats as much CPU as necessary for the modules you enable.

I'm digging the UAD API Vision in unison mode for vocals at the moment.

I'm really liking the just-released Nomad Factory Analog Studio Rack.  At its $39 introductory price, I'd call it pretty much a no-brainer.  It's a little more than just a channel strip, but among its seven component modules are emulations of an SSL console channel strip compressor/limiter, EQ and gate/expander.  I've just started playing around with it yesterday and am a very happy camper so far.

I have to agree with this. I have a few channel strips but don't use them very much since I can get the same results with really no extra time spent with my favorite plugins. Plus I get to use the components I've chosen to have.

I like SKnotes strip, although I haven't had a chance to put the newest version through its paces.

Also melda productions has a MONSTER coming, so if you're not hung up on the "vintage analog thing" I'd wait for that.

Chandler, that's quite a teaser there.  Can you tell us more?

Unfortunately I don't think I can. The only thing I'll say is that it is more powerful than any other channel strip I've ever seen by a large margin and I could easily mix a whole song using it, with no compromises.

+1

Even with Alloy, I see the modules more as individual plugins.  The Transient Shaper is handy.

Well I still use MixControl Pro by DNR Collaborative most of the time - really is a good plug in - I don't think this is available any longer as the guy behind the company faked his death in a road traffic accident apparently, then ran off with all the money - and he had a great name - Reason Lahalla!!!!!
