HI Folks ...
Cakewalk is working on the problem of X2a "freezing" when inserting any synth (32 / 64)...

I just spoke with a very capable fellow at tech support ...I'll be following up with him to cure a problem many have joined in reporting.

Would you be willing to call tech support and tell them YOU are also having this problem?

Apparently, research has been started on this problem, but few have taken time to report it so there is no substantive progress on the matter.

Would you help?

BTW: my system has been flushed of every potential problem by Jim Roseberry.

...I should say ..."following up to attempt to remedy the problem..."

I've written in your previous thread before. I'm not sure this is the same situation here.

Opening almost any soft synth also did the same to my system (have to wait for a while before I can do anything to Sonar) - but if I move my mouse to the task bar , or just discovered, move the mouse to my second monitor, the system unfreeze immediately.

If someone can confirm this is the same issue, I can submit my bug report too, and I know it's not only specific to my system.

tomixornot...

I thought I replied in the last thread...
That did not act the same way for me...
It sounds like we have a similar situation.

I like to think I can help make my favorite production platform better with reports to the tech staff when encountering oddities like this.
I can't begin to imagine what it must take to solve any issue like this!

If you don't mind sending a report or calling tech support ...that may help others who may never see this thread or suspect something may be done to remedy this particular circumstance.

Thanks A Lot for Your Reply to This Post!

Yes, I have just confirmed this.

I will test this later today.

It's more serious (for my system) now that I do more test. This applies to opening new soft synth (test with Session Dummer and True Piano). Opening project with saved soft synth did not encounter this.

After opening the synt, X2a freeze as long as I do not move the mouse away from the main monitor. I did not realized this before as I used to do a few tasks moving the mouse to other monitors.

If you do your next test, try not to move the mouse away and see how long Sonar freeze.

Edit : Moving the mouse on the main screen to test if Sonar is responsive, as long as the mouse do not reach the task bar area. Do not move it away from the main monitor, if you're running multi monitor setup.

Tried this earlier did not really notice any difference in the time taken for the system to become responsive again.

The real headache for me seems to involve one particular Soft synth I use quite a bit Arturia's Modular V.  Which seems to like to crash or hang the system if I tweak any of the settings within a few seconds of inserting into a project.  The hang requires a cold boot to clear.

I have this issue....but just learned to live with it. It's not something I am concerned about, the freeze only lasts a few seconds. Cubase has the same situation. I'd rather Cakewalk focussed on more problematic bugs.
