Hi guys, can someone please tell me how to drag a midi file from one track to another without the midi moving left or right, I know there are two keys you have to hold or something to do this without it moving left or right.

I wanna say hold the Shift key then drag but last time I tried that in X2 it didn't work (I'm pretty sure it worked in X1). If your clip starts on a beat or measure you can just enable Snap and it'll snap into place. **If it doesn't you can use the Snap Offset by setting the offset to land on a beat or measure then it should snap into place. I'm not sure if offset markers copy along with with a copied clip.

**The manual seems to say offset doesn't work on MIDI clips. Still looking for the exact binding for drag and drop in place.

Okay, I'm not finding the info. Try Shift and drag or maybe Alt + Shift then drag. Sorry.

The Shift key works in X2 as well. Also, pressing NumPad8/2 can move the clip up/down.

Maybe it was just misbehaving for me. Thanks.

it all depends on the part of the clip you grab from, grabbing from the center of the clip while holding SHFT locks it vertically
grabbing the end of the clip while holding SHFT locks it horizontally.

at least this is supposed to be how it works:)

By this you mean clicking in the header right? That's where I was grabbing them. They were very long clips so maybe I was grabbing the end zone hot spot... but they still moved downward. I'm just gonna have to go mess with this on the DAW. Gotta clean my place though. Cheers.
