I'm mixing down a final of a song that's 3:45 in length and when I render either a wav or mp3, there's 20 secs of silence at the end.  I've selected only the range of bars for the song, I've got VCC, VBC and UBK-1 on the final and I can't figure this one out...what am I missing?   I've done this a hundred times...stumped.
Probably something simple...

Is there some automation or something hiding at the end? You could just take the stereo wave into a new project and trim it down.

Twenty seconds seems long for this, but if you have an effect with an inaudible "tail" it could make your project long by several seconds.

The "play effect tails after stopping" checkbox problem.

im thinking automation as well.
but to be sure also go back and set up your projects length again.

But he's selecting the range of bars. T should end at the section.

D'oh, I fixed it the first try but when I exported again I forgot I'd chosen another folder so I was grabbing the same old problem file thinking I'd overwritten it wondering why it wasn't fixed ...

Do you have another audio editing program? If so, I highly recommend editing your exported mixes from Sonar this way. You can trim up the song in there, and perform tweaks such as compression, eq, etc. You can even do this with an inexpensive program like Pyro. I personally use Steinberg's Wavelab....the "elements" version is $99 and it's a great external editor.

I too use and external editor for trimming exports. While I use SoundForge, I would suggest looking at one of the free editors such as WaveShop unless you have a budget for an editor.

Well outside of this little brain-fart, I've never needed an outside editor for trimming tracks.  The only thing that would be great in Sonar is a mastering tool.  I don't mean a limiter, I mean like Nero where you can red book burn a CD and write isrc data to the song file meta, etc...

Actually just checked out WaveShop, looks pretty good, think I'll grab it...
