• SONAR
  • X1 exporting entire mix with more precise start/end point? (p.2)

When you zoom all the way out, you can make precise edits to the start and end of each song.

Then Click the Clip > Export > Audio.  Its that simple!! Its very simple and precise

Some very helpful replies early on that I will check out later. Then some who, no disrespect, haven't quite grasped my problem; I know how to export clips, insert markers, leave space for delay and reverb tails etc etc. I'm asking if there is a way to export mix accurately without dragging the region. Yes, you could argue it's a mastering job but most DAWs handle this without any issues

Is there no way to create markers or loop points and then instruct the program to export between these values? This is the logical way to do it if you want any timing accuracy whatsoever. What have I missed?

Thanks all!

3 ways I know of:

1. Create markers where you want them.
In the Markers Module click the arrow to find the 1st one.
In the Selection Module click the start button.
Go back to the Markers Module and locate the finish marker.
In the Selection Module click the End button.
Now drag-select all the tracks by clicking on the track numbers.

2. Use (or make) a clip that has end points where you want them as a gauge.
    Select it.
Now drag-select all the tracks by clicking on the track numbers.

3. Crop the project at the points desired and save it as a new or sequential project.
Then drag-select all the tracks by clicking on the track numbers.

You can move the 2 modules together to expedite this process.

P.S. Instead of dragging the track numbers you can also click Track 1, hold shift, and click the last track to select the tracks.

Nice!
Thanks for this.
Something that has bugged me too.

As others have said, there is no need for click and drag to make the selection. Just add a start and end marker to your project. Then open the markers view, select the two markers and export. You can edit the markers location as precisely as you want.

Welcome to the forum Fatherjohn.

I think you are over thinking this. I also think you are using the same technique from Cubase. Its not a good way to export a mix in Sonar. Because there is no such thing as a begin marker and an end marker in Sonar one would think that is an oversight. You don't need them in Sonar. If you want to export a mix of a specific length you do a slip edit of all the tracks useing ctrl +a.

Then be sure you have a master buss that all tracks and sub buses out to. Then when you hit export select your master buss only to export your mix.  The stuff above is not normally needed if your song is the full length of the project. But if you need to do further editing of the mixed down you can trim the song to length and bounce after bringing it back into the same project or a new one.

Is it not as simple as...... edit > select all > export audio in X1 ?

That's all I ever do (8.5PE) and it's always fine.

It can be, if selecting everything is what you want to do. It would appear that is not the goal of this exercise.

Maybe I'm being thick here, but the OP stated that he wanted an easy way to select all his non-muted tracks and export his mix at the exact length of the project including the processing tails. When I do this, that is what happens.

Why does it feel like you are always looking over my shoulder ? ;)

+1   I never use the Markers view so would have never known that method exists.  I haven't particularly needed it, but it's nice to have another alternative.

This gives me the answer I need, thank you. Seems this is something that's not quite as intuitively integrated into the workflow as previous DAWs I've used, but it's good to know the functionality is there when I need a quick-ish way to create precise exports of a user designated length.
