  • X1 exporting entire mix with more precise start/end point? (p.3)

Is it not as simple as...... edit > select all > export audio in X1 ?

That's all I ever do (8.5PE) and it's always fine.

It can be, if selecting everything is what you want to do. It would appear that is not the goal of this exercise.

Maybe I'm being thick here, but the OP stated that he wanted an easy way to select all his non-muted tracks and export his mix at the exact length of the project including the processing tails. When I do this, that is what happens.

Why does it feel like you are always looking over my shoulder ? ;)

Interesting - so assuming you've understood I didn't want to drag/ hold and had not yet the knowledge of combining the selection and markers tools to achieve what I want, how exactly would Sonar recognise the project length in your scenario? By the longest track? If so how is it detecting the exact appropriate FX decay time? Maybe I'm missing something else?

Project length will be determined by the last event written to the file.

This could be anything - an audio clip, midi event, envelope node, tempo change, meter/key change, markers etc

Also, Sonar doesn't know when your Fx tails die out to complete silence. If you do have anything that you don't want cut off, just extend one of your clips - any clip - way out past where you think it might end, start playback, listen intently and hit 'm' when you're satisfied it's silence you're hearing.

Now you can shrink the clip back up to it's original length and you have an end marker in place

As Bristol Jonesy says. If the longest track /clip is the same as where you want it to cut off that's where it will cut off. Works for me. My first response was a question if you read it. Maybe X series is different, but I'm guessing probably not.

AFAIR, it's been this way since at least 6PE

Sure, as I would expect - so basic exporting as instructed by some replies would NOT have solved my issue as it does not take FX tails etc into account unless you stretch your events to accommodate them. That's the point I was making.

Anyway, my query was resolved elsewhere in the thread so I'm a happy user again.

I said in post #22 that you'll need to extend what you're exporting to encompass any reverb/delay tails, either by lengthening a clip or inserting a marker, node, anything.

Indeed, I read all the posts carefully. I wasn't referring to yours. Anyway issue solved, thanks all.

You can also use ctrl+A to select everything before setting the Marker points.

You can also set the freeze tail duration by right clicking the freeze buttons.
