I most often do my final dither by using the export function on a single bus (in my case the bus is named MASTER). I *HATE* how Sonar adds "-MASTER" to my carefully considered filename. I understand how this is useful when exporting multiple tracks/busses, but the single track/bus use case would seem the more common.
 
At the very least I would like to see a checkbox in the Export dialog to disable/enable this functionality. Even more useful would be finer control over the addition to the filename - for example: prefix/suffix, bus/track number instead of name, etc.

Sonar doesn't add anything to my export filenames, I just get what I type in the box

If all the tracks/buses resolve to the Master bus, the the Entire Mix source category can be used for export. The Entire Mix source category does not append anything to the file name. If that is unsatisfactory the is always the Feature Request Form.

You obviously haven't explored all the options on the File-Export-Audio dialog. As someone mentioned, if you select Entire Mix, it won't append anything onto the name. If you select tracks, it will export each track to a separate file and append the track name to the filename. Also, checkout the Presets options. 

I know exactly what sea_ferring means.  In order to avoid to messing with levels, he is mixing everything down to a single master buss which is routed to his mains (which he probably routes to his monitors). He exports this buss instead of Entire Mix so he does not have to concern himself about the current level of the mains. When you export the buss Sonar adds -<<BUSSNAME>> what ever the buss name is to the end of the file. (I do the same think and yes I hate having to rename the file as well)

No, that's always been a pain with most Sonar Dialog Boxes

Believe it or not, I was annoyed by this very problem not 5 minutes ago, came here to write a post and saw that someone had already done it for me. I export small time segments of individual synth tracks a lot to use as samples throughout the project, and it's really irritating to have to go in and delete the appended track name from the file name. What makes it worse is that if you forget to do it before you drag the audio clip back into the project, Sonar won't let you rename it from the browser (presumably because you can't rename files that are being used in the open project?)

Everything I export, i get the same exact name that I named it in Sonar. Nothing is added to the name.
 
Also, you can customize the export menu to your liking with presets. you can make any export preset you like. 
 
I would actulaly lean how to use the export menu and read the help files before saying it doesnt work and do basic things, as it can do EVERYTHING you are griping about.

I export the same way the original poster does from a master buss.
 
Sonar does put a suffix of the buss name on the output file. This does not appear to be optional.
 
If you export the total output then it does not but then you have control the output level to your monitors from somewhere else.
 
When monitoring I use the output level to control the speaker volume. That is why I use the buss. The original poster probably does it the same way.
 
I think he is just looking for some sort of output filename mask definition to allow him to slug in metedata on the export.
 
Not a terrible idea.
