Thanks!
Actually I would like some more help with that. As I'm not married to X1 anymore (even though I loved it) - I'm happy to install from scratch if it is cleaner. I'd like some help managing how I should install my VSTs & samples - particularly the ones that come with Cakewalk. Good to know DimPro X1 = DimPro X2 - I'm assuming you mean completely identical and not just feature identical?
Anyway. This image shows some current folders on a separate local drive that I have installed and working with X1 at the moment. If this is a crappy setup and you can recommend a better one, any advice would be welcome with that. I have the plugins installed on the boot drive as VstPlugins(x86) and VstPlugins x64 as shown - with the VST Samples and Content files on a separate local drive:
Is this setup ok? Notice that I've installed the Sonar X1 plugins and content for DimPro and Beatscape etc in a separate Cakewalk folder and also separated out the 32 & 64 bit plugins to separate install folders so I don't mix anything up and so it would be easier to see which is 32 & which is 64bit. I initially did this ages ago when I wasn't sure about compatibility with my plugins and wanted to be able to use them if they didn't work in Sonar X1 64bit.
While I'm comfortable in Sonar, I don't use it daily so I'm not as familiar with some specifics about setup etc. But in the time since I've installed X1 and now just bought X2,
I imagine the Sonar bitbridge or whatever regarding 32bit-64bit vst compatibility has been fully sorted out and there may be a better way to manage VSTs and just use Sonar X2 64bit. Is this so?
How would you recommend I install X2, or should I leave everything as is and let the X2 installer just use the same stuff that X1 did? Or would it be better to re-install everything including my other VSTs?
The main thing I'm worried about is having conflicts with the Cakewalk specific stuff like DimPro or beatscape or whatever is included with X2 versus what was included with X1. I don't want things to be screwy and use the wrong dlls or point to the wrong content. Any suggestions to prevent this?
thanks for your help!! :)
