  • Snap to grid not behaving well

I use SONAR Home Studio 6.

I'm using the Snap to Grid tool. When I get to the next measure the snap stops working and snaps to it.
Does anyone know if its possible to stop this from happening? Note in the screen shot the last MIDI event snapped to the next measure, and did not snap to the next duration.

Actually, snap to grid is behaving well. You are attempting to defy the structure.
I have just tried recreating what I see in your screenshot. The problem lies in your unusual snap setting.
Yes, I know you have the option, but...
The snap grid is relative to the measure, so with each new measure, it basically starts at zero.
Think of framing a house. You must have a stud every 48" to line up with the drywall seams. Anything in between is fair game.
The same thing is happening here.
Here's my solution.
You can't make the pattern fit the grid, so make the grid fit your pattern.
You are showing a 4/4 grid @140BPM. Your pattern is roughly 6.5 beats per measure.
Change the BPM in the transport to 227(give or take a beat), and set your snap to grid to quarter note.
This will give you the same tempo, and your pattern will now line up properly with the measures.

ps. What is the exact nature of these events?
I see velocity, but no individual notes.

Thanks for the information. Yeah I had a feeling thats not what the tool was designed for, but thats how I'm using it to achieve what I need to do.

These events are related to the cutoff frequency of a synthesizer.
There doesn't need to be individual notes.

See, I would have just made a few events and then copied them over, but there is a bug in SHS6 where random events don't copy over. I've decided though I'm just going to do it like this anyway and insert the missing events. Its much faster anyway.
