I always turn it off, it never seems to select the snap I require.

I would hate to go back to pre-SmartGrid. I think some customization would be good as well, like defining when it switches, but overall I find I can set it and forget it and never really worry about snap settings. I only need "N" to toggle alternate settings or override snap altogether.

I know every thread that Brandon posts in degenerates into a Hi Brandon thread but...

Hi Brandon! Nice to see you

Let's not think of it as "degenerating" :-)

So...  Brandon moves to Roland and now he's a degenerate?

Well no, I wouldn't want to go back to pre-SmartGrid either. :)
Smart Grid was actually one of the things I got especially impressed by when you showed us X2 for the first time in that X2 webinar you and Seth had.

But being able to "calibrate" it so to speak would be nice I think. And I feel (reading the replies here) that I'm not the only one that feels this way.

I do use the N-button. Both for switching snap on/off, and also for the alternate snap setting. This is a whole other feature though, I think and shouldn't be confused with the smart grid.. I really like the idea behind smart grid. It just doesn't feel spot on yet.

Since people work with different screen resolutions and on different screen sizes (not to mention that people just like different snap settings in general) it would only be logical to be able to personalize this more I think.

Fair points all around. Some kind of customization wouldn't be bad at all.

I've never use the smart grid function. It's a great idea, but it's poorly executed.

I don't know if this has been discussed before but, wouldn't it be nice if we were able to set a minimum and maximum snap value to the this function and also if we could change the curve of when the snap value changed to what zoom level (like a graphic curve) to make the setting better match the snap value we want at a specific zoom level?

..and also having individual settings available for piano roll view and track view, of course.

It doesn't quite do exactly what you're looking for, but Bill Jackson shared a pretty cool tip a while back for tweaking the behavior a bit. Check it out: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2675461

Nice to hear! And a big thanks for replying!
I know it's getting old, but it's really nice having you around! :)

Wow! That's awesome! :)
As you say, it's not exactly what I'm looking for but I played around with this and found that it feels much more natural for me to have it set to 64 :)

Now I'll definitely use Smart Grid more! :)

..And since this setting was so easy to adjust, it gives me hope for the future and Smart Grid's development! :)
