I have not. In fact I didn't really realize that function was there or at least what it meant when I was first messing with it. Good tip. I've obviously got it set to default which is okay with the fancier drum software but if I can find something a little smoother to work with that would be great.

On a side note I had found a youtube vid that was showing a set of on board programs a guy had made for the pK. It was pretty crazy. It involved the editor librarian though IIRC so I just let it be. If I can get the EL working I might take another look at it. Lemme see if I bookmarked the vid...

Ah yes... here it is.

And now I think they may be programs for sale but there's still some cool stuff. Cheers.

Wow--cool video! It was worth watching just to see all the things the PK can do that you wouldn't ordinarily think of. I'll have to look into that further.

The PK manual has a pretty good explanation of velocity curves, with diagrams. And here's where the ed/lib software comes in handy--in the window where you set parameters for a pad, it also shows you a picture of what the curve looks like for each choice. It's a helpful little reminder--otherwise, you're totally relying on memory.

Here's a video which I think nicely shows the dynamic range you can achieve with the PK with the help of choosing the right velocity curve:

Interesting thread. I have a PadKontrol and a couple of older Roland devices; a Fantom XR and XV-5080 which all have 32-bit editor/librarian apps. They all worked fine on Win XP, but under Win7 X64, none of them will communicate with their respective devices whether Sonar has been running or not. However, Sonar works with them with no issues.

The Korg tech stated that you can't run the padKontrol software concurrently with Sonar 64 bit, due to the 32 bit/64 bit disparity. I'm finding this to be true. Admittedly, it limits the usefulness of the software--I can't make changes in the software, hit pads on the padKontrol, and hear them in Superior Drummer simultaneously. When Sonar isn't running, the ed/lib and padKontrol do communicate.

I'm hoping for a workaround and will be creating another post to try and get some answers.

I'm using 3 of the korg nanokontrollers with sonar x2a 64bit and they function fine. I'll try the pads a little later and leave an answer on my suscess or failure, but I'm pretty sure they will work just fine.

Ah yes... I forgot about the 32 bit thing. Shame they dropped driver support for the pK... unless of course Korg has released something new since I last checked.

Oh and the nanoKontrol stuff is still being sold as current product so there should be any problems there. I almost snag one of those instead but I decided on the sturdier pK. Got a pretty sweet deal on it too.
