sea_ferringBeyond the fact that it looks messy to my slightly OCD mind, it breaks the envelope. If I want to change my envelope I change it. If I am cutting a clip then it should have no effect whatsoever to *track* envelopes. Am I making sense? All the current functionality does is force me to remove the auto-added nodes. Track envelopes are track attributes, not clip attributes.
sea_ferringCan anyone explain to me the rationale behind adding a single envelope node to every track envelope every time the Split Tool is used? This is a major annoyance in my workflow and in my opinion should be an option. The only way I could see this behaviour being useful is if the Cut Tool inserted two nodes instead of one. I am constantly repairing my envelopes after being mutilated by the Cut Tool! -mal
sea_ferringJust because it isn't in your workflow doesn't mean it isn't a valid one. I do mostly live recordings and minor edits after application of envelopes is par for the course for me. This is irrelevant to the question though - why change the envelope when splitting clips. This also includes moving selections where implicit cuts are done. This behavior is just silly.
Bristol_Jonesey It doesn't "break" the functioning of the envelope though, it just looks messy. There is absolutely zero need to delete nodes that aren't being used.
WDII don't have X2 so just throwing this out there and guessing. Isn't there an option to select envelops with clips. What happens if you turn this off?
Bristol_JoneseyYes, you're absolutely right. I just tested it and when it's switched on, any envelope gets dragged to wherever the clip goes. Switched off, the envelopes stay put with no additional nodes created.
