Looking forward to trying this. I have a Martin with an under the saddle pickup and a little mic in the sound hole. These come in on left/right from a stereo jack. Very curious to hear what I can do with Ocean Way Studios with this technique...

The OWS is amazing. It can transform a drab, flat-sounding track into something really great.

If nothing else, the UAD platform is worth investigating just for the reverb plugins. They're all at the top of their class, and it's nice to offload the processing load onto external DSP -- many native reverb plugins are CPU eaters.

Cheers,
Eddie

Very impressive tutorial on how to save such a blah sounding guitar. SPLAT users seem to already have several similar approaches, though and then there are the Craig Anderton piezo presets, which I haven't even checked out, yet.

I ought to experiment with all of the above, as I usually plug my Martin (GPCPA5k) straight into the 18i20, even though I have a pair of Fishman Aura Spectrums. Pure laziness, I suppose but those first basic AC parts never stay in the track. They get replaced as the arrangements develop. Hmmmm. Maybe I'll fart around with some of these ideas.

I'd love to get the UA Quad core, but for now my best method is still miking my acoustics.

Breathe by Faith Hill popped to mind after I posted. It clearly has a DI'd piezo guitar part blended in, nicely. I wonder what Dan Huff did?

Later in the day it occurred to me that I saw DI'd piezo guitars as "unusable" and now I realize it is more like a raw sound that requires processing.
I appreciate that, smallstonefan, so thanks!
I'd love to have the OWR. at some point.
