Hello everyone, I'm new to posting on the Community Forum but have been using Sonar for a while with a struggle. I have technical issues. Don't know how to use sonar all that well and hit many brick walls. Which part of this forum is the best place to post my technical issues.

Cheers

Welcome. You should get some good, friendly, advice here.

Think about the question first and familiarize yourself with the forum. Each sub forum is usually specific to a certain Cakewalk product or area of interest.  For example if you have a question on Sonar, you need to post in the Sonar forum and not the Music Creator forum or the techniques forum. That way, you have the best chance for the right people to see the question and provide a good answer.

Also, provide as much information as you can about the issue. Computer specs, sound card specs, what you were doing or are trying to do.... what happened or didn't happen....etc....

You'll be up to speed in no time.

EDIT TO ADD:  and once you get things moving along and start recording stuff, be sure to post your work in the SONGS forum.  That's a great tool to use. You can ask for feedback and comments and the ears here will give you their thoughts on what you did, and how you might be able to improve your recording techniques.

Techniques isn't a bad place either.

Spend a little time seeing what's in each and post wherever you think most appropriate.  The worst thing that can happen is that a helpful Host will Move a thread.

Techniques is a good place to discuss the technical aspects of music production which aren't Sonar specific. For instance, if you're looking to ask about the best way to EQ a snare, or how to mix guitars, that's a good forum. If you have issues or questions related to Sonar specifically though, best place for those is in the Sonar forum.

Welcome to the Forums Geoff!!

Also, it'll be good to put your PC specs/audio interface/other hardware that's plugged into your system in your sig (just in case you need to troubleshoot something).......it'll be easier to problem solve.

Yep, upstairs is the best place to start.  Down here is Alice's rabbit hole and you're just not ready for that yet!

Welcome to the forums Geoff! Lots of great advice listed. Don't think any question is too dumb sounding to ask. We all started where you are now and you'll see no one here is afraid to sound look or be dumb. Fun is the name of the game with Sonar! Recording your music will Shurely be for you too!
