i'm not opposed to the dongle .. but i cancelled my order because i'm out of
USB ports .. i've already got an iLok .. i don't want another one... and they
are problematic with usb hubs...

i like the software .. but sheesh...

Hey Jeff -- I hope you let them know *why* you canceled. Not that they actually give a crap, but every little bit helps. When I ordered Dim Pro, I told the Cakewalk sales person on the phone that I was sending my money their way to support their minimal copy protection stance.

I knew it....but I didn't technically know it till just now! I also got an email from them (yesterday), but it was a little different and had NO MENTION of the new dongle requirement. I proceeded to their official website, and searched everywhere for mention and/or explanation - nothing. Usually in the "Requirements" section companies will put something like "One free USB port...", but nope nothing of the sort. :-0

I was starting to wonder if maybe they weren't gonna do it. Now the truth is out, thanks Larry!
And yeah, that's a deal breaker for me as well. Fortunately, I'm quite happy sticking with Amp 1...

I haven't checked email today yet, but over the weekend I emailed IK support (because like you I couldn't find anything about copy protection) and asked about copy protection for A2 and got an answer back the next day that it's both a C/R AND dongle. Sucks. This is what held me back from going with the upgrade to Groove Agent 2; ditto for anything new from PSP - they're going to dongles as well. And there's been talk over at the East/West Soundsonline forum (from where I've been blackballed and Nick hasn't the had the decency to tell me what happened) about possible dongles but nothing definite.

All i can say is those dongle companies must be doing some SERIOUS pressure sales on software houses.

Well I'm off to buy a ikey from allans music, they guy I bought this off on ebay said he bought two by mistake and it doesn't need a dongle to work on mac.
I load the software with out a dongle and it doesn't appear in my applictations folder
