I built myself a new kit that I want to work within Session drummer 3, and Id like to view it in piano roll. How do I do that? I have a decent collection of one shots is there other ways to work with them besides piano roll? Viewing them in step sequencer would also be interesting ,,,,what tools or possess  do you use to work with one shots? thanks for any ideas

It sounds like you are needing to create a few Drum Map presets to label the keys for your one shots. As far as tools for one shots, maybe a sampler like TX16Wx would interest you.

you can also just right click in the track (of session drummer) and under views, choose piano roll view.
 
just drag your one shots right in top of the kit pieces in the mixer section of session drummer
(drop your one shots right on top of the picture of the drum)
not in the main view, the mixer view.
you can do both I believe but the mixer section is much more accurate.

thank you I will check out those videos and your site . I did make the kit by dragging my own one shots onto the Session drummer instruments. And opened the piano roll for that track and no keys triggered sounds. I'm looking at drum map creation but it looks pretty complicated at first glance just to here session drummer in piano roll. I will explore .I must be missing something

what are you using to trigger session drummer with ?

just simply substitute your keyboard in place of the drum machine.
 
because when you say "no keys trigger the sound" if you mean keyboard?
you might not need a drum map just need to make sure your devise is selected under midi devises in preferences and also make sure you input is your keyboard and then make sure you have input echo engaged.
 
 
the main reason I linked the vids is because its much easier to watch then explain.
but its not that hard, like I said, 4 videos there that explain everything to do with session drummer and basic midi.
the reason I made them was there was a lot of users asking the same questions over and over.
 
most keyboards, if that's what your using are very compatible with session drummer and like I said, no drum maps needed.

I have a midi keyboard that's not yet hooked up , a M audio oxygen49,,,I have managed now to get the piano roll to produce the sounds from session drummer but they are all random,, meaning I have to guess which key is going to make a particular sound... I take all of your time seriously and I have enough info no to proceed and experiment ...thanx for responding

This is why you need a drum map. All the "notes" will be labelled with whatever you care to name it, kick, snare etc

I just want to start with the fact that I do not use session drummer, so I am no expert.
 
What are you seeing on the left hand side of the piano roll view?  Piano keys or drum names?  As far as I can tell from a brief look just now, if you insert Session Drummer as a Simple Instrument, or as a MIDI source and Audio Out, or if you route the output of a MIDI track to Session Drummer, it automatically loads the Session Drummer Drum Map.
 
If the names are no use to you e.g. if the sound assigned to the snare is a wolf howl and the bass drum is a cement mixer, then you could try creating a new drum map based on the session drummer preset.
 
On the MIDI track select Drum Map Manager from the output button, create a new map, load the session drummer preset and simply type the new names in place of the old.
 
I hope that makes sense..  As I said, I don't use session drummer, but I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in if I am mistaken.

 
It's easiest if you base your kit on an existing drum map and then edit the changes as you wish.
