see when you call someone "forum police" its a personal attack, its name calling, but you dont understand that though do you?
the way you treat members sometimes with little to no respect is very disrespectful.(like bub)
like they're your personal toy here for you to humiliate like a bully would do.
When have I ever bullied you? Or anyone here for that matter?

The threads have been flying around here this week, it's actually been hard to keep up reading them, and still trying to do some stuff in Sonar. Sometimes I wish I didn't have internet access on my DAW.

I'm sorry I upset you Chuck. I like you, always have, and none of what I've said has been a personal attack. I just think things got ugly here this week and it's boiled to a head for some of us.

As for this thread in comparison to the other one that you defended me on ... the only reason I said anything in that thread was because it was in direct response to a comment I made. Normally I wouldn't say anything.

Shawn is a regular here and is one of the people that keeps the Songs forum going. Yeah, it bugged me when I saw your post, and I should have PM'd you rather than say what I did in this thread.

Next time I'll just PM you ... I don't like having bad feelings between us.
ya im the guy answering threads trying to help people before i start another session using sonar.
Me too ... a lot of us are. And the ones who have seen a lot of problems, like myself, have far more to contribute in my opinion. All I see from a lot of people are, "It's your system ... buy a sound card, update your BIOS, format and reload Windows, 'works fine here'.". And God forbid that someone asks a question on how to do something. The stock reply is, "RTFM". It's actually rare that someone offers any real help here come to think of it. I said rare ... not never.

Honestly, I haven't hardly seen any posts by you Chuck, so don't think any of that was aimed at you. And I don't mean anything bad when I say that I haven't seen many posts by you. I don't read the other forums. I read this one, the CH, and once in a while I go to the Songs forum. Usually when I see a 'Shameless Plug' thread in the CH.

I didn't see the thread where you defended me until you provided a link, because to be honest, I said what I had to and moved on because the thread was, well ... not an attack, but a jab at me. It was a reply to something I said that was taken out of context.

Anyway, I'm sorry I upset you. You know me better than to know I would do that intentionally. I like you a lot, you've helped me a lot, and you put out some excellent music, and I regret that this happened, but I certainly don't consider it to be the end of our friendly relationship here. Things happen once in a while.

Craig Anderton did it the other day, where was the outrage then?
Craig had special permission from the people at Cakewalk and there was a reason behind it.
The reason behind his post was the fact I made a comment in another thread to something of the effect that some of the people who claim to be professionals here have never posted a song. That's where it stemmed from.

It's not a big deal, I'm just pointing out that Shawn came on, stated how much he liked Sonar, gave an example of what you can do with it, and that's exactly what Craig did in his post.

Seems there's a dual standard here determined by status.
Actually, that's not "exactly" what I did in my post. I have eight songs posted on my YouTube channel that were done in Sonar, and you can access my playlist via my sig. The reason for posting that specific song - which isn't even one I wrote - was because of the video, which was done exclusively with movie captures of Sonar.

I thought it was novel and something that y'all, being Sonar users, would enjoy. It was also something that got quite a bit of discussion in my Sound, Studio, and Stage forum, because people asked about specific techniques they saw me use in the video (apparently there are other Damage "secret weapon" fanbois out there). And, when I did a similar video using Ozone 5's spectral metering as the background, the people at iZotope got a huge kick out of it.

Being sensitive to the protocol about posting songs in this forum, but feeling I wasn't really posting a song in the traditional sense of "hey, listen to my music," I asked Cakewalk in advance if it would be okay. They dug the video concept and said sure, but I STILL didn't post it. Eventually I did, and given the "pros never post their songs done with Sonar" comment, I thought okay, not only was this done in Sonar, you can see that it was all done with Sonar in the video.

You can feel free to attribute special mojo to my "status," but I honestly think if anyone else had done a crazy-ass "all Sonar" video behind a piece of music that documented what Sonar was doing in various spots throughout the song, had a pro level of sound quality, showed it to the folks at Cakewalk, and asked if it was okay to post it, they would have been told to go ahead as well. Despite the cliche, sometimes it IS better to ask for permission than forgiveness.

But all that aside...yes, Sonar IS awesome. And I completely understand Shawn's motivation after all the negative crap that went down in THIS forum, so he posted in THIS forum as a response.

Or, maybe Cakewalk just let me post it because they feared my Awesome Power, and were terrified that I would switch to Pro Tools as my main DAW tomorrow if they didn't tell me to go ahead. Admittedly, that's a much more vibrant conspiracy theory
Yeah, you're right Craig.

I read it all wrong. Things were a little heated that day and I got carried away with it all.

Thanks for the video.

I haven't watched it yet, I'll go do that right now.

Thanks,

Bub.

Hey, no problem. Dealing with a text-only medium is a ****.

But your post #51 is pretty darn cool, and I wish I saw more posts like that in ALL internet forums.

Thanks.

I just watched the video ... it's really good.

I had Windows Sound Service disabled to try and save some resources and got sick of not being able to watch Youtube, so I re-enabled it today. First I've had a chance to check it out. That and the fact that the Midi port on my Fast Track Ultra wouldn't work without Windows Sound Service for some reason. It's an external USB 2.0 device, I would think it wouldn't matter, but it does.

Bub.

"the way you treat members sometimes with little to no respect is very disrespectful.(like  THE WAY YOU TREAT bub)
i think some of the things he has said to you go a little beyond common respect.

ya sure it would have been nice if you had my back today.

sorry still feel the same way, songs belong in the forum unless you have permission.
i think shawn a good guy and a tallented musician but its the second time hes done it.
dude you know how much i love sonar, but my songs are either in my sig or in the song forum

thats not what bothers me,its the personal attacks, the name calling. the "forum police" and cowboydan refering to me as "Looser"
there are many ways to tell me you dont like my opinions without having to resort to lowerng yourself to name calling

All I can do is say I'm sorry. I mis-read it. This is going from bad to worse man.

I'm glad someone else picked up on that about him. Thanks.

Yeah, you're right. Songs should go down in the Song forum. There's been so many bad things going on here lately, it just seemed trivial to me at the time, but you are right, this isn't the right place for it. If the shameless plug thing gets to you ... do not go down to the CH. OMG.  Putting your songs in your signature is a very effective way to get people to listen. I had thousands of hits on Bub's Rap, but hardly any replies in comparison. That's the kicker. It's nice to see your tune on the front page of the Song's forum, even if people don't like it, it's still nice to see it show up. Oddly, the other one with the most hits was Silver Bells. All year long I get hits on it, yet hardly no one has ever commented on it. I don't get it? People must like Christmas music I guess. LOL

I agree with you on that. It's hard to engage people that do that because it usually gets real ugly real fast and they have a tendency to hold a grudge. I think it will get better. I think that particle dude got the admin's attention and they'll be keeping a better eye on the forum for a while now.

I have been and remain motivated to try to help folks, specifically because plenty of folks here in the forum have helped me with issues and techniques.  My other motivation is my deep love for music, and if anything I can do helps another be able to play and record music then I am happy to help.

I know that there is a lot of frustration generated when folks have errors and crashes and then see me post that I am not seeing a particular problem.  To anyone who has bristled at any such post of mine, please understand that I am not at all trying to gloat or be dismissive when I do that - I am only trying to indicate that for whatever reason, that particular issue is not being triggered on my system.

It seems reasonable to me that if one system produces a problem and another does not, that the issue would likely fall into one of 2 categories:

1.  Environmental differences
2.  Procedural differences

I define environmental differences to be something with the system software or hardware that is different between a system that works and one that doesn't, where the exact same steps are followed on both machines.

I define procedural differences as being something triggering on one machine and not the other due to a different set of steps followed.

There are legitimate bugs exposed by both kinds of differences, and there are also solutions found by careful examination of the above differences.

(bugs that are found to be present on all machines are not part of this post - I am only seeking to explain why I often am posting that I am not having a particular issue).

So, I believe it to be of investigative value to explore WHY a particular problem occurs on one computer and not on another.  To get to the bottom of that situation, it seems perfectly logical to me to dig into both of the above categories of differences, to ferret out what conditions produce the problem.

It is, in my opinion, therefore legitimate to ask questions about environmental conditions and procedural steps in order to narrow down causes for problems.

While there are certainly blanket haters as well as blanket fan bois among forum members, I think sometimes people are posting like me - to point out the need for careful examination of a given system and the steps one person followed that produced an error, when others are not seeming to run into that particular problem.

I certainly do not mean to rile anyone up - I only really bashed once in my forum time, and that was a single comment to Godparticle - and I believe that may have been justifiable bashicide.
