Sorry, John..

I don't use the matrix myself, but I do have many hardware synths.

If I have a chance over the next few days, I'll give it a try.  John says he got it to work, so I know it's possible.

Bapu's comment seems pointless..

@chuckebaby - yet again you storm into a thread, misunderstand the OP, and feel the need to "jump on the guy".  This is not a hardware issue.  I'm guessing that you, like many, think MIDI applies only to softsynths.

As someone who grew up before MIDI, and owned one of the first MIDI synths, perhaps I see it differently.  MIDI is a universal standard.  Comparing the OP's issue to your wanting "Mark Bass" included in Sonar is ridiculous, to say the least.

Your comment "I think we have dissected and analyzed (sic) things a little to much when it comes to what should and should not be basic features" begs the question that perhaps you need to analyse a bit more before jumping on your soapbox?

Peace, man.  We all make mistakes, but chill a little before jumping in with both guns blazing.

@OP - If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll hook up my 'boards and play around with the matrix..

I believe it works in X2a but not X1

John
That was all my post was about. That it works in X2 as it should.

how can you be giving advise to anyone when you cant even do something as simple as posting on this forum ?
surely you didn't grow up before they created the "post button" ???

JB, thought id made it clear like 1000 times now, but let me try this again.

"it would be better for the forum if we didn't quote each others posts."
"it only leads to useless arguments that no one else wants to hear".
(like this one is turning into)
just avoid my posts, like I do yours, its easy.

good luck with that.
(and your posting problems)

Nice of you to apologise to the OP, chucky.

Let me make this clear - stop telling people what to do.  I will quote who I want.

And yes, I did grow up before the "post button" was created, as I'm sure you did. And the spell and grammar checker too, apparently..

I would have posted back sooner but scrolling past 6 of your posts took me a little while.
apologize for what ? this crazy rant about sending his kids through college ? and not eating for 10 hours ? lol, ya okay.
and your right, you can quote anyone you want, and apparently so can I as well.
I was avoiding you know. just so you know that.
there is just something between you and I that's not good, its ugly and it only gets worse when we quote/post towards each other.
I was simply trying to avoid that, you obviously can not.
but, that's cool, I can play your game if you want. should be fun right?
too bad others have to listen to it, o well. if you don't care why should I right.

I think dub had a great point, when I said fair enough, he won my opinion over, he made me stop and think. I can learn something from people like him.

grammar isn't the thing here, music is, you should try it sometime.
do you have any music ? any links to your music?
do you even make music with sonar ?

mine is in my sig.

I tried using X1's matrix with my ARP2600 but found it rather kludgy...but it definitely works a lot better in X2.

see here's the thing, I've never made a so called "venting" thread.
I don't come here to rip cakewalk or tell everyone how bad it is.
I have, more than a few, expressed my displeasure with certain things/features.
there's a way of going about things.
when autosnap was non-functional when x1 was first released I was in trouble,
I had 2 very important projects due that went way past deadline, I lost one of the two customers.
the other was very understanding and knew what was going on(with sonar x1).
when the next update was released there were still things not fixed, so X1c was released.

I lost a customer, that's money to me. but let me be struck down as I stand I were to come here on this forum and rant out my
problems, blame cakewalk and expect all of you to say "I understand".
I've also expressed my displeasure with the pro-channel modules, just don't think they're as good as some other plug ins.
had it out here with a few users about that, but never said, they should have been part of an update, bla, bla, bla.

I understand everyone is different and some people feel the need to do that.
it still does not make it right, let me go back to what I said earlier; "there's a way of going about things".
these threads always get ugly and i'll take blame for starting that but I have no tolerance for these or goodbye threads.
they're no help to anyone and I thought that's why we are here, to help and to learn.
I should have ignored this thread, so im just as guilty as the guy who started it.

happy fathers day everyone.

Just to reiterate an earlier comment - the Matrix view was introduced in 8.5, and I don't recall any marketing for X1 that stated the Matrix view was updated to work with MIDI out to hardware devices.  Maybe it's assumed to work that way because it supports MIDI, but I would certainly not make a purchase without finding out whether my primary need for that software would be met.   Especially if I was short on cash.

The other thing that seems odd to me is that we're discussing the Matrix view in X1 roughly eight months after X2 was released.  And, one of X2's new features was outputting to hardware synths - http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sonar/whats-new.aspx   Venting is fine IMO, to some extent, if there's some valid to vent about.
