Can the Octa Capture be used with Sonar X1 Essentials or Sonar X2 Studio for multi track recording ? I am currently using X1 Essentials and will soon install my X2 Studio version. I am looking for a way to record multiple tracks that I will be capable to edit after the fact separately for example a drum set using 8 mics for this instance. Will this audio interface work with X1 or X2

Yes.  I have the Octa-Capture and it worked fine with my X2 Studio.

The Octa-Capture is great bang-for-the-buck.
If you're ok with "only" 8 mic pres then I can highly recommend it. Eh, I recommend it anyway on second thought as it has the ability to be expanded with another one if needed.
Great drivers and great sound!
I would consider the big brother, Studio-Capture also. That wasn't avialable when I got mine.
Same, same but even better ... but what fits the bill depends on your needs.
