I thought I ran across one , but maybe I am just thinking of one of my hardware synths.  I need to incorporate a heartbeat into background usic for a project and it would be nice if i did not have to leave Sonar to do it.

Never mind.  Found one.  There's one in one of the Xenos sound packs for Zeta+ if anyone else randomly needed such a thing

Thanks.  Your suggestions might help someone who did not buy the additional packs.

Freesound.org is a great repository for not-so-musical samples, sound effects, etc. that are mostly creative commons licensed to freely use in your work. You can load them into a sampler, or just paste them into your Sonar track.

Last time i wanted a heartbeat sound and i did not know about the above presets so i used a bass drum, a high cut filter at around 400 Hz, then a reverb.

slart, i thought about going the sample route, but figured I would check first to see if what I needed was already available.  Like most of you, I probably have more samples than I need and am trying to reduce redundancy

jaws, Good suggestion.  I am going to be using the heartbeat in lieu of a kick drum and that method allows me to make it a little bigger and tighter than a sample imo.  The patch in zeta+ I am using seems to be constructed using a variation of the method you described
