hi everyone, i'm trying something I really never do. use SD 3. i'm able to insert a drum track however I can't seem to make it loop or drag it out. I click on "enable looping" then drag out the track but the data does not come with it. i'm sure i'm missing a step, what could it be??
thanks

Control-L on the selected MIDI clip in the track turns it into a groove clip. Then drag the edge to repeat the clip.

this is called using drum machine to trigger session drummer 3
but in this video it shows how to set up session drummer 3 to have all the pieces of the  kit on different tracks to use effects for snare only, kick only, exc.

By selecting Enable Looping it should be working. Looped clips will have beveled edges. Maybe your groove isn't long enough. If it has beveled edges and you aren't seeing the data after dragging it out a bit try dragging it out further. I've had this happen where the loop was say 8 measures but the data only filled 4 measures. The loop just considers that last four measures as intentionally left blank and includes it in the loop. There will be little indents at the top and bottom of the clip to indicate that you have started a new instance of the loop.

Oh and if it IS the case that you just have empty measures you can fix it by selecting and splitting the clip where you want the loop to end, delete the empty section, make sure the new shorter clip is set to loop and drag it out. That was my hamfisted approach at it. I'm sure there are other ways. Watch Charlie's vids. He's smarter than I am.

I want to thank you for the vids. I've certainly seen you around and appreciated your posts, but what I really like is how you really simplify things for old-timer  CW users like me.  I guess I do tend to overly complicate things.

Your use of of the Oxygen49 also intrigued me, because I've never been able to keep the settings of it making it as a control surface with it in 8.5, X1 or X2.  It's frustrated me, and it's not a big deal but I'd be grateful if you could direct me to something that works with this controller I'm currently stuck with.

Disclaimer: I love my little Korg nano-control, but I still have problems with templates I've created (and saved) there too, so I am a little jaded at this point.

Thanks again:
Richard
