Like I said earlier you could have made the survey available only through the user's store account. Send a notice email with a link to the store. Once they log in the link to the survey is there. For extra security give each instance of the survey put in some code that links it to that user's account. Once it's filled out they cannot fill it out again.

Might be tricky but it would be more accurate and not much harder for the customer. Just thinking out loud here. Cheers.

You make a pretty good point. However, requiring that might have turned some people off from participating. We wanted to make it painless and easy as we know time is valuable. I see your point though and perhaps in the future we can find a better way to ensure they own the product but not have to many requirements that would make them pass on taking the survey.

I knew this was the reason CW sent out the email. To assure more participation. To make it a requirement for survey participants to do something other than "click this link" would have assured that some would not have taken the survey.

Here is a suggestion for next time: send the email with the link to survey, but also have a link in your store account for those you want to take the survey, in case they don't get the email for whatever reason.

There, all bases covered.

I took the survey and I really believe there was no great hidden agenda here. There have been rumblings on this forum that Cakewalk/Roland has been ignoring us. Well...within a week there are two HUGE moves that indicate otherwise. I found the survey to be concise and yet very open-ended int that we were able to help prioritize the areas that need to be addressed most based on OUR opinion. That sounds to me like a company who cares and values it customer base. Kudos Cakewalk. Looking forward to X2b or X3. Oh and for the naysayers who feel I am new to Sonar. Not true just new to the forum. I have been a Cakewalk user since Pro Audio 6. circa 1998...

There was silence for an unnervingly long time but I figured they were just shuffling the deck with all the restructuring and moving around of staff. There seems to have been a major uptick in Cakewalk participation in the past week and I for one am going to take this as a positive sign that things are approaching some normalcy again and good things are a comin'.

Prove me right, bakers. ;-)

We try to participate as much as we can but it's been a super busy time here to be honest. This has happened before and is no indication of how much we are listening. Frankly, we care a lot and I read the forums almost every day. And to be honest, a lot of what people want to know is related to product road maps and business plans. We can't divulge that information for confidentiality reasons. But we care a lot and there are so many folks here who have been with the company for a long time and have a vested interest in the company's success.

Because I have been on this forum for a longtime I can remember when things were quiet and when things were not. It comes and goes. There is nothing odd about CW not being active here. Keep in mind that all the CW people have duties that are removed from this forum. In other words they work for a living.

Just because we want more information does not obligate them to respond. Its nice when they do but it has always been a peer to peer forum.

Some of you don't know that or prefer to ignore that. If you think about it they act just as we do to a degree. They respond when they feel a need to. And when they have the time.

@Andrew... Yup, I figured. I'm relatively new to the Sonar realm but the interactivity with the customer base was one of the major selling points for me. Just hadn't seen a stretch of silence this long yet but I joined while you guys were gearing up for X2 so there was lot of activity. Personally I don't care what you guys are doing on the corporate end of things. None of my business. All I care about is the stuff that effects me personally like patches, support, new products, etc. Just glad to see you guys back.

Cheers.

If this ends up a duplicate post my apologies. The forum was throwing errors.

@John... I'm an extremely cautious and nervous fellow in general and read far too much into things than I probably should. I've got a lot at stake with my investments into Sonar. I built my entire system around it (literally I used the computer hardware resource page to find all the best parts before even buying Sonar). I'm using Cake products as the foundation for my entire future as a professional musician. Taking all that into account I was no more than mildly "concerned" if you could even call it concern at the silence. I'm not sure how some folks manage to get themselves so riled up over this stuff. It's bad for the belly.

Oh well. What can ya do.

I wouldn't worry too much Beepster.

There are those that seem to spend their life poring over financial figures and making 1 plus 1 equal 5, don't own the program and show a complete ignorance of how it actually works - hence their frustration with it. I get the feeling that that type of person are actually "willing" things to go wrong for Cakewalk just so they can then say "Told you so"

Then of course there are those that actually use it, point out where it can be improved and have a vested interest in seeing a continuation of the improvements and consequently continued CW success.

I'm sure the latter will be happier than the former.

No point getting worked up about it, it's a computer program. Life's too short to get over excited about a load of 1's and 0's.

@ekral - my comments on trolling were not aimed at you, but at mcq, who is a trouble maker.
