New plugins for UAD: Manley VOXBOX channel strip emulation, a new Brainworx-developed Ampeg bass amp sim (and a new bundle containing this and the other two Ampegs that came out earlier), plus generically-labeled replacements for the Roland effects that were dropped from the lineup due to the licensing agreement expiration: Space Echo, Dimension D, and Boss CE-1.

Cheers,
Eddie

I got so excited when I saw UAD and VOX in same sentence, only to realize that my dreams have failed again to come to reality.

I am not a fan of Ampeg amps, just not my thing.  once again nothing to spend the $50 coupon on.

As long as you already had the UAD/Roland licenses prior to the licensing relationship between UAD and Roland expiring, your existing UAD Roland plugs will continue to be supported and roll forward with updates.  UAD can no longer sell the Roland versions to new customers.   This topic is posted on the UAD forum.  I would have linked but the UAD forum is down right now:(   Is under General Discussion topics.

Yeah, you have to BUY THEM AGAIN and PAY FULL PRICE to boot! And if you don't, UA will deactivate your existing plugins that you already bought -- you should've known Roland wouldn't allow their good name on evil UAD plugins for long!

Cheers,
Eddie

I think there are some "legalities" there that could be argued.
Granted, you're only buying a "License" to use, but I don't think
they can "rescind" that License and make you buy "the new ones".

I'd be doing some heavy "License" research...but, chances are, they slipped
in a "change" of the License Agreement somewhere along the road and had
everyone agree to it unbeknownst....that's how companies (and Governments)
do things these days...

No wait, I was joking!  Didn't you see my

Real story: all the old Roland plugins still work, if you own any of those you automatically get new generic ones to use if you'd rather, and those who don't already have the Rolands can buy the generics from the store now. They're sonically identical to the branded versions. I think they cost less, too -- at least the Space Echo does -- which makes sense since no brand-related royalties are involved anymore.

And no, UA is not an evil company, despite what you read on GearTrollz and other forums.

Cheers,
Eddie

You can cross-grade to the new UA replacement products and keep what you have.   For users that have the Roland license already, the cross-grade should already be in your account.    They are saying the new plugs are "sonically identical to the previously branded equivalents. They all sport improved graphics, updated Pro Tools page ta, and some great new presets that really help get you going quickly.  Presets and settings created with the originally branded plug-ins are compatible with the Classic FX plug-ins, but not vice-versa."

The previously Roland branded plug-ins are frozen and won't be changed or updated in the future.

I just checked my UA Account and have new plugs registered.  They are Galaxy Tape Echo, Brigade Chorus Pedal and Studio D Chorus Plugin for UAD-2.  The Roland stuff is still there as well.

Regards

Now that I'm recording my own vocals I would like to try VOXBOX. But I'm afraid I'll like it. I have a $299 for 2 coupon that I am trying not to use - VOXBOX and CurveBender would do nicely.

Must resist...
