But what if the servers do go down?
If or when the servers are taken down, we will make sure you have a way to authorize your products without using any of our current online authorization steps. We're working on a mechanism for if this does occur, to ensure our users will not lose functionality moving forward.

Looks like some knowledgeable folks discussing this thread so I'd like to jump in with a similar question.  I'm actually in the process of upgrading computers and have one on the way with a 512 GB SSD and a 2 TB HD. I've been a cakewalk user since it was basically just a midi tool so I've gone through a few computer upgrades but if I recall the last one wasn't as simple as I would have liked.  I was wondering if there is a good recommended approach/sequence to how I reinstall everything I have purchased from cakewalk (it's a huge list)...and where I should locate files in respect to the SSD and HD.  I'm not a computer wiz - just a bassist (I can play a 5-string) - so any advice or links to where this kind of information may exist would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help - long live Sonar (I did purchase a discounted Studio One over Thanksgiving at a discounted rate but haven't done anything but install it - I guess I'll eventually have to reinstall that on the new computer)

I think we have all seen that message. The concern is,
How are they supposed to give us this magic unlocking code if the servers go down ?
Send it by email with the information they have stored on their "Online servers" ?

Cakewalk already said they couldn't even send out a mass email to customers (letting them know Cakewalk and Sonar has been discontinued). Im not confident waiting around for this off line authorization.
