+1 for Bristol_Jonesey.  One of my standard defaults is to use two instances of RealGuitar (L and R) and tell it to play one side in std position and one in the 2nd or 3rd position.

If less guitar is needed, I just use one instance of RealGuitar and select its stereo sample which is very cool.

hmm... but it doesn't "split" the signal like the VC does... or can that be achieved with some fancy mucking about?

Yeah, the internal routing does make it easier but a cloned track or buses can get a similar result (Actually I would use a 3rd party EQ that allows for separate left/right processing) FWIW, I do like VC-64, just avoiding 32bit plug-ins since going 64bit.

I guess in that scenario you would keep both tracks center panned and apply the freq attenuation/boosts same as in the VC64 vid. hmm...

I'm also assuming this (well both procedures) would give some separation like Craig was talking about to create space for other instruments but still keep keep some frequencies in the middle. Like panned but not panned. If that is not the case I'm sure some fiddling around might achieve that effect. I've gotta learn how to use/interpret data from those stereo field analyzer thingies so I can see how stuff like this works out.

There was also a brief vid on using Channel Tools to mess with the stereo field but I didn't quite understand what he was trying to do. Little more complex than my gray matter can absorb just yet. In fact most of those vids are pretty involved with a lot of steps to get to the end result. It would be far more useful to me in text form. I know he wrote columns in SOS describing some of those methods (like the one about dealing with guitar sims) but it would be hard, if not impossible, to get a coherent list together of it all. I'll probably have to watch them all and make my crazy notes. I'm just getting tired of writing all the time instead of actually doing stuff. lol

Does the VC64 work better in a specific wrapper of is the default one better/the same?

(for the life of me I can't remember the names of the included wrappers... I think there is a storm coming and the pain is messing with my head. ugh...)

Ah yes... I've got that bookmarked. Just not sure if all the tuts in the vid were published in SOS or how to sort through to get at specific topics. I guess I should just keep that page open while watching and try to match things up as best I can. It's also annoying that WMP doesn't give chapters for those vids. I have no idea why MS decided to strip so much functionality out of WMP.

Also... I miss Craig. Haven't seen him post since he got the job at Gibson. :-/

Bitbridge comes with SONAR. JBridge is the only other one that I know about. Since I do not own JBridge I don't know. I have not used VC-64 since moving to a 64bit platform last year.

Huh... I thought Jbridge was included as well. I'll have to take a look. Cheers.

No, it is an inexpensive third party solution for use in any DAW.
