When I try to move or copy an audio clip from one track to another, (multiple take lanes in each), sometimes is works and sometimes it doesn't .  Sometimes the clip just disappears.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.  What am I doing wrong?  I've can't seem to control where the clip ends up when it does work.  Is this a take lane issue?

BTW, I know there was much discussion about the take lane problems but I can't seem to find those threads.  Links or search terms?  Thanks.

Save and restart the program then try again. If it still doesn't work reboot and try again. If it still doesn't work try locking all other tracks/clips except for the clip/track and destination clip/track you are working with then make your move. If it still doesn't work you may have to try an earlier version of the project (this is why I am constantly using Save As... well one reason).

This is a major bug and once it sets in it's a huge pain. I really hope they patch it.

Thanks Beep.  I may have go back to S8.5 to do my comping and then mix in X2. I sure miss not being able to do cross fades lane to lane.

Does anyone have links to the earlier discussions about the track lanes problems?  I'd like to review them and can't seem to find the right search terms.  Thanks.

Hi Paul...

Yeah, a nasty bug... And longing for a fix...

I haven't tred Beepsrter's workaround but what I've foun happens is that it gets moved to a new track that it creates on the fly and I've always been able to then move it from this new track to the desired track/lane...

Hi Keni.

I've seen that behavior copying clips out of take lanes.  Copying or moving into take lanes I use UNDO when the clip disappears.  I'll have to look for that new track.  I've also found it frustrating that when I do get it to take the clip I can't seem to control where and to what lane it pastes to.  Is that part of the bug as well?  Like I said before, I may go back to S8.5 for comping till this gets fixed.

Thanks.

It's kind of coincidence (to me, at least) that I just read this post, because I was just about to post a very similar message of my own.  But since it's pretty much the same kind of problem that I'm having (and since there have already been multiple posts about it) I'll just add my comment/question here.

I laid down multiple vocal tracks for this song I'm working on.  A lead, harmony, and background "ooohs and ahhhs" (in 4 part harmony ;) ) Anyway, they are all in take lanes from one track.  I know I probably should have laid down each vocal on a separate track (not lane) because I'm finding it very difficult to mix them correctly.  Especially after using V-Vocal on most of the tracks, it's really difficult to adjust individual take (lane) volume levels.

I was going to attempt to move each lane to a new track, but after reading what was just posted, I don't know how much success I'll have.  My original question was going to be: What is the easiest way to do this?

Thanks, Lee

Sorry you're having the same problems, Leee.  I'd just clone the track three times and then erase the clips/lanes you don't need for each vocal part.

Since they're all part of the same parent track, the easiest way might be to use clip gain envelopes on each lane.   Just change the Edit Filter from clip to clip gain (automation), which should activate those envelopes for editing.   I can't recall whether quick groups work in this context, but if so, you should be able to select all the lanes first and then Ctrl+Click one lane's Edit Filter in order to switch them all from clip to clip gain.

re: Separating take lanes into tracks.

Yes, just clone the original track and delete the unwanted lanes in each by pressing the little X button on the lane. I've resorted to doing things that way after recording a comp solo because for some weird reason it doesn't sound as good blending/cross fading takes in X2 doesn't sound right. I'm the only person I've seen mention this and I'm not sure if it has been fixed with the A patch but something was very different when comping for me after I installed X2. It's a pain trying to keep things in sync though as far as effects and levels so link/group the tracks however you can so changes apply evenly (if that is what you want). I may have just had a setting wrong though.

I used the comping method Karl explains here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teGGxrYGvO8
