Currently rockin X1 on XP and finally making the move up Win 8 and X2. Starting on a laptop first and will do my desktop (main DAW) after I get ALL kinks sorted.  Too many developers that I depend on are moving away from XP.  I only use SONAR for mixing. I mainly track and compose in Ableton and Motu BPM. I have a laptop coming that has a touch screen and I just grabbed X2 on sale yesterday. Plan on getting a touch screen monitor for my desktop as well. Honestly touch is one of the the main reasons I upgraded but I also look forward to using VSTs in PC. I wanted to hear feedback from those of you mixing with Touch in X2. 

What has been your experience? 

  I've been on Windows 8 64 bit since December. I have an Acer 27" touch screen and I'm loving it. 
  As long as there are Widows 8 drivers for all of your hardware, I wouldn't hesitate. 

 I did the Windows 8 update on my DAW PC . After the update there is a function in W8 ,I think it's called "refresh". It puts a clean install of W8 on your PC and puts all of your documents in a "Windows Old" file. You will need to re-install all of your apps 

 I may be the lucky guy that has the magic combination in my DIY PC, but I've had zero issues.

 I don't miss the start menu at all

 Give the touch screen some time. The day that I connected it I was a bit disappointed. Once I got used to how it responds,it became an indispensable tool. 

  I do have my touch monitor mounted horizontally so that it's like a control surface. I'm sure that this adds to the experience. 

Thank for the insights Joeb1 and wow a 27" touchscreen...now that's what I'm talking about.  I read in another post that PC and the faders are not quit there yet with Touch. What specifically has been your experience with PC and the faders in the console view? Also, are you running at 1920x1080?  

I like my touch screen. Mine is on a stand that makes it easy to rotate the monitor and change the physical orientation. I like it, but I'm really fast on the keyboard, so I still use the mouse and keyboard in addition to the touch screen. I like the touch screen while recording. I can mess with synths and amp sims by just touching them. It's direct and easy. I think you'll be happy. I am.

Hey Gswitz....your comments are interesting because some else posting something similar to what your saying. Its seems like touch becomes an addition to your workflow and not the main tool. I would not have thought that. Cool idea about the stand too. Seems like there aren't any real issues or glitches with it. Has that been your experience?

Yes.  No issues.  I like it. I probably could use it for more than I currently do. I'm a guitar player hobbyist. 

So this has nothing to do with sonar, but I think it is interesting anyway.  I play lumosity games.  I've been doing it daily for a few years so I know how I tend to score. The touch screen is only a big help on a few of the games. For the most part the keyboard is still faster.  Now the games never benefit from multi touch which sonar does benefit from.  I just think it's interesting. The biggest thing is I don't spend time wiring up my alpha track.  Touch is obvious and easy. It is easy to get started. 

  I'm much happier with fader control using the touch screen than when I used the 8 faders on my Axiom 49 and ACT. 
  You can adjust a fader on track 1 and track 24 at the same time! You can't do that with an eight fader control surface. 
  It's not perfect but IMHO it blows away an eight fader control surface using ACT. No need to keep track of "where am I" 

  Navigating and zooming in track view is where the touch screen really shines

Not having to deal with banks of faders on my Novation Impulse and being able to get right to a fader or ProChannel module is exactly what I am looking forward to being able to do. So excited! Thanks for sharing.

Positioning it horizontally is one of touch best in sonar Imho. Its like actually riding on a mixer. How about turning knobs is it also possible? 

  Yes you can turn knobs. It gets tricky with things like the EQ knobs in Pro Channel. I find myself using the mouse for those. Pan and effects sends work well. Buttons like solo,mute etc. also work well.
  Another thing I find myself using often is previewing drum VSTi . For example, I can open BFD2s property page and touch the drums in the GUI to preview them. 
  VST effects are hit and miss. The sliders in Breverb work well. Some other 3rd party stuff , not so well. 

  By the way, my screen is only 23". In an earlier post I mistakenly put 27" (wishful thinking)
