I can say I already have a second touch screen on my wish list.

Yes you can turn knobs. It gets tricky with things like the EQ knobs in Pro Channel. I find myself using the mouse for those. Pan and effects sends work well. Buttons like solo, mute etc. also work well.
Another thing I find myself using often is previewing drum VSTi . For example, I can open BFD2s property page and touch the drums in the GUI to preview them.
VST effects are hit and miss. The sliders in Breverb work well. Some other 3rd party stuff , not so well.

By the way, my screen is only 23". In an earlier post I mistakenly put 27" (wishful thinking)

Too bad about ProChannel and Touch. I really wanted to that to work well. Do you think it would be better on a 27" (I saw where you said you had a 23")?

Yeah I'm thinking working with Motu BPM is going to be pretty nice for programming beats and composing. I love UVI sounds.

So I got my laptop with touch a few days and I'm finding it to be pretty nice. I totally like it in general. I just installed X2 today and did a quick check and I gotta say:  "Cakewalk, ya did good."  I'm sure some enhancements are coming but for a first team feature Touch seems to be well implemented Checking out my plugins with X2/Win8 and want to do a mix on it here soon. But so far looks like I will be getting a 23" Acer for desktop after I upgrade to 8 gig of ram and Windows8. In depth review coming later.

I wish I could join in on the windows 8 touchscreen back slapping. I think the implementation is quite underwhelming. I have written about this elsewhere, but the main problem is that the touch support is just a tack on. In order to make it truly integrated the graphics and in particular the size of items needs to be addressed. Some clever stuff like rotaries that grow when touched needs to happen. At the moment its all a bit fiddly and twitchy. The potential is enormous, but can Cakewalk spare the time and resources to develop in a direction that so few users can access at this time. Probably not.
