I have got the AAS Electric Strum VST but it is similar to the Acoustic session. What these do is provide much more accurate guitar simulations by the fact they can copy the voicings that guitarists use plus proper strumming effects  (up and down strokes etc) and a host of other things too. But they are a bit complex to use and definitely require some reading and practice to use them well.
 
The Cakewalk Sound Centre is based much more on loading up a guitar sound and you playing it the best way possible. ie it is much more like a standard synth or VST.
 
Strum is way better in terms of getting realistic guitar sounds and performances.The Electric strum also has riffs and rhythmic grooves that can be applied too. All very good. Check out their demos and see how well they do it.
 
But Cakewalk Sound Centre will also have a much wider variety of sounds availale too not just guitars. It depends how much you want to produce very authentic guitar sounding parts. If that is the case Strum is the way to go. If you are wanting to do fairly simple guitar parts but have more sounds then the Sound Centre might be the best option.

I got the Strum Session free with the Korg Legacy update after buying a nano. I like what it does even though the sounds are little limited. So I bought the DSF vol. 8. for DimPro, Sound Center didn't sound as full to me and they were the same price. DSF does have a better range of sounds but for some reason the library is out of tune and has to be adjusted. Still, the Strum Sess. adds more realism by way of applying strum techniques, so as a guitar, I have to give it a better recommendation. So much, I'm considering getting the bundle upgrade from AAS. For whatever thats worth.

Thanks Jeff for the thumbs up on the Electric Strum, makes the decision easier. I also had considered Vir6ity(sp?) with Konakt 5, but as I don't own either, that would mean shelling out a good 7 bills and more if I wanted the acoustic with it. At this point I can get a full AAS bundle upgrade  for 249. since I have the VS1 and Chromaphone (which is a good deal on Cakewalk). Doing it that way still saves about 50 bucks and I didn't have to do it all at once.

I have a question for you, does the strum allow you trigger other sounds? (I don't think so, but it would be nice since I get some really great sounds in the VS1).

(BTW, I said on another post I felt the VS1 was limited, but I have to correct that and say it has become one of my go to VSTs for ethnic and organic sounds - more than the Garritan World Collection/Arias I have)

Hi there Stipes Great minds think alike. As I was reading your post about getting Strum to trigger other sounds I was just thinking that too.
 
I don't think so at least in my case. I use Studio One as my main DAW and they don't allow midi plugins so the midi output from a VST cannot be routed anywhere. (AFAIK) But in Sonar it might be different due to extensive midi routing and you may be able to do it.
 
It would be good to trigger external devices for sure. I have just got a new Kurzweil PC3K keyboard and it has some of the best guitar sounds in it I have ever heard.
 
Out of interest I have a piece of hardware called 'Strummer' which 'Oberheim' made (they were famous for analog synthesisers) It does a lot of what Strum does in terms of articulations and it is hardware so I can route anything to it and it is also fast too. No latency. It is midi only of course but if you insert in between your controller and your DAW you get all the guitar voicings and articulations etc..Pretty cool.

the Amplesound AG Emulations...

The AGML is free...and it sounds great, just limited in features...(it's the Martin)

And they Have Martin, Guild, and Taylor emulations...and they sound really nice...

+1 for the Amplesound guitar packs, I think they're the most realistic ones I've heard. Some of the demo videos on the site are amazing. 
 

How does Amplesound compare to Muscilab's RealGuitar...? Not only when it comes to sound but also when it comes to how you create the tracks? Easier? More difficult? Can you play it live easily or does it need a lot of MIDI-editing? And btw I presume these Amplesound plugins will prevent you from playing two notes at the same time on one string? And obvious things like that? I had a listen to the demo's in the meantime and they sound great... The strummer looks nice too: easier to setup then with RealGuitar...

I am downloading the demo now (the free version) to check it out, even though it's limited, but that will help me to compare it with RG myself. But er... I have to download from Rapidshare...??? If I purchase this guitar, will I have to download the official version, which is a few Gb, from Rapidshare too...? This little demo takes ages already!

To save anybody wasting their time with loooooonnnnggggg downloads, be aware that these freebies require your DAW to be connected to the www or they won't work.

Downloaded the Ample Guitar M demo. It sounds fuller then the Musiclab guitar. It also sounds imperfect (and hence more realistic) when doing fast runs. With RealGuitar you can hear each note perfectly but with AGM some notes are muffled or dampened of whatever may happen in real life. The fret sounds sound more realistic too and keyswitching is a lot better then with RealGuitar (although Musiclabs electric guitars have more keyswitches) and you also have effects RG doesn't have.
 
The only thing I am missing with AGM is that I can't get for instance the low E to PLUNK hard, so that you can hear the string hit the fret LOUD. The strummers looks nice but isn't uncluded in the demo.
 
All in all a very interesting acoustic guitar!
