FX 3 Sound Stage is very much worth the trouble to get it to run. When it came out it was $89.00. Now its free. There is nothing quite like it. Its a reverb that is a room simulator that you control.

Highly recommended. You will need a DX to VST wrapper.

Hi Beepster...

Yeah, they are a bit of a dead end as everyone has already mentioned that they are DX...

They were really cool "before their' time" plugins that never got any further development as the public (mostly) ignored them...

The amp simulator isn't bad... No cute gfx and minimal choices, but it can work well when coerced... Same with the tape simulator... Each with a sound all it's own...

the most impressive (to me) was always the FX3 which with a little more development I believe would rock the market to this day... the ability to graphically place a source and mic position as well as customize the room to your heart's delight! I loved this one and used it often...

What it was sorely needing was a way to map each source's entry into the room via the graphic representation... I guess that was (is?) too much to ask for, but I find this one a lot of fun to work with...

I haven't tried it in either of the X versions yet being overwhelmed with simply getting around the X-UI... but I plan to try again... With a vst wrapper of course.... ;-)

These two along with the pitch shifter were ported to 64bit and are part of the standard 64bit SONAR installation.

Hmm... I guess it couldn't hurt to try them out. Would probably be a good exercise in learning about wrappers and I'm trying to think of any room verbs I might have that work the way that one seems to. Honestly... I'm not too fond of Breverb. To me it sounds like the reverb is sitting on top of everything instead of actually giving the signal space. Hard to explain. I'm probably just not using it right though. Thanks for insight, guys.

There are a couple of other choices in your installation. Sonitus is low on CPU and latency. Perfect Space uses more CPU and introduces latency but has a lot of flexibility especially with the large selection of free ir files on the internet,  these should keep you busy http://rhythminmind.net/STN/?page_id=4188 for starters

That's a surprise... I know they came with the install, but as they are DX, I figured they would only work in Sonar 32bit where DX is still supported...

@scook... I very much like the Sonitus reverb. Can't remember how much I've done with Perfect Space. I think I tried it but got confused. I guess it's the visual interface on that FX3 one that's enticing me. BTW I was taking a good look at those Melda free plugs. I think those are going in the arsenal before I start mixing so thanks again for that recommendation. I'm also considering that last PC compressor module I'm missing since they extended this sale but I'm hesitant because I have a feeling it's going to be included free at some point and I'm not sure how much I actually need it.

I'm also eyeballing that cinematic pack for dim pro and the Dark and Dirty expansion for Zeta? I think it's Zeta. IDK... I just hate looking at these things for $20 and not snagging them but I'm not sure how much use they'll get and they'll probably go on sale again anyway. Meh. Should probably just pocket the cash for now and wait for something really important.

Get the z3ta presents from XenosSoundWorks.com for less. You might also want to consider Valhalla Vintage Verb (demo available) instead of the PC4K if you are short on cash and need to make a choice between a new reverb or compressor. Of course, Valhalla does not discount (at least not yet but at $50 a sale is unlikely) so you could pick that up the next time you had some spare change and the itch for a new reverb.

Cool. Yanno I'm very minimalist when it comes to reverb. I just really don't like it aside from giving things a bit of breathing space. The Sonitus stuff seems to do a pretty good job of that. If I was working for others though I'd definitely have to take a look at different options but that ain't happening for a while. At least not until I can crank out a few albums for peers and contacts to inspect. Compressors however are an endless source of fascination for me at this point. Had no idea what in the heck they did or why up until I picked up Sonar and now I'm hooked.

The cinematic stuff I figure is a good idea to have around in case someone ever wants me to do stuff for their art films or something. The Zeta Dark and Dirty... well I just like the really disgusting things that synth does but would rather have the programming done for me. Gotta really do an in depth study on that synth.

Well, there are hundred of ir files in the link above for many famous brand reverbs. Don't cost nothing but time to check them out. You also want to try a short delay instead of reverb.
