I wanted to give kudos to the programming team, X2 is very good.  I was using Sonar version 2 for years, and I loved it, but I couldn't get it to work on my new laptop.  I'm finally starting to get the groove for X2.  It's been rock solid and I love all the features that have been added over the last 10 years.

Great job.

Wow that's some jump but I guess at least you missed out on some of the bugs in the versions in between.

Yes, X2 is a great program. One thing I don't seem to appreciate in X2 compared to version 2 is the clip inspector embedded in the Inspector pane. It was easier to change clip names (clip colors, too?) in v2 IIRC.

The clip inspector is nice because it allows you to change multiple clips at once and you can keep it open rather than having to keep opening and closing a dialog box.

Hi Scott. If it wasn't possible to change the name of multiple clips in v2 (I don't remember anymore although it was three years or so ago when I stopped using it :) ), then you're right, Clip Inspector is better for that purpose. But IMO the Clip Inspector is on the upper left (or right) corner and it's a little bit inconvenient for me to move a mouse there just to change the name/color of clips. I personally prefer the option to be on the right-click menu.

Not just that but with the track Inspector all the needed widgets are there for adjusting without having to resize the track to allow all the widgets to show. If this is not a better way I would like to know of one.

It was major feature request of mine.

How about...

1) Clip Inspector & Track Inspector alone can be undocked (together as a two-tab window) and can be assigned a new shortcut key to open/close if the default Shift+I (or Shift+Ctrl+I) is inconvenient. And the width of the window can be adjusted to show a longer clip name, etc., and the size is remembered with the project (or a screenset).

2) In addition to the current Inspector, users can also show/hide Clip Inspector and Track Inspector by pressing the mouse wheel. The mouse wheel currently shows the Tools module only, but there is space to show other things, too. So, show both inspectors (separately) below the Tool module.

Either way, users like me who normally hides Inspector (to save screen space, because I use a laptop) during a songwriting stage but changes clip names/colors very frequently might be happy, too. (Well, I'm not really "unhappy" about the current Inspector layout).

Ok, I have to go to bed now. Maybe I'll come up with better ideas while I'm sleeping...
