How about...
1) Clip Inspector & Track Inspector alone can be undocked (together as a two-tab window) and can be assigned a new shortcut key to open/close if the default Shift+I (or Shift+Ctrl+I) is inconvenient. And the width of the window can be adjusted to show a longer clip name, etc., and the size is remembered with the project (or a screenset).

2) In addition to the current Inspector, users can also show/hide Clip Inspector and Track Inspector by pressing the mouse wheel. The mouse wheel currently shows the Tools module only, but there is space to show other things, too. So, show both inspectors (separately) below the Tool module.
Either way, users like me who normally hides Inspector (to save screen space, because I use a laptop) during a songwriting stage but changes clip names/colors very frequently might be happy, too. (Well, I'm not really "unhappy" about the current Inspector layout).
Ok, I have to go to bed now. Maybe I'll come up with better ideas while I'm sleeping...
