Hello, I recently was looking for a good Moog Synthesizer sound and made probably an ill advised purchase of IK Multimedia's SampleMoog.  After my first install it appeared to load from Sonar X2 64bit, but there was no sound.  Then after a second try it would not load at all and would give me an error that it's not installed correctly.  So I reinstalled it (burning a second of the 5 allowed installs)  This time I used Jbridge for the 32-bit wrapper, but still no luck.  I also installed the free SampleTank  which does appear to run though I don't know how to get any instruments loaded into it.  I have tried directing it to the SampleMoog folders but it doesn't seem to recognize any instruments.    Anybody here have any success with this VST instrument?  If so, what can I do to get it to work?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I've certainly had problems with these softsynths, but apparently not the same ones as you are describing.  You need to initially open them as standalone before trying to use them in Sonar.  Also they need to be run as administrator.

I would try IKMultimedia technical support, they should be able to replace the activations you used up and hopefully point you in the right direction. It's worth looking in the software forum and seeing the ****storms about IK's instruments and the lack of 64 bit support. If you do not get any replies from IK support send a message on this forum to IKObi (you will see his posts in the software forum) and ask him to follow up.

Sampletank and Miroslav CE both run OK on my system using the standard bitbridge, but others have reported issues in 64 bit Sonar. Sampletank 3, which will apparently read the sounds from all the existing IK products, has been promised for some time. Its long overdue and down of the software forum its something of a standing joke. However if promises are to be believed it will be out later this year.

I use G-Force Minimonsta which is a fine Minimoog emulation, thats not 64 bit yet, but I dont have issues with it and a 64 bit version is beta testing from what I hear.

your best bet is to do a cc chargeback and abandon IK all together. their software is all buggy in 64bit and all indications from their company show them going towards designing toy keyboards for your iphone that you can buy with jam points and green skittles!  you will probably never get it working properly if there is already an issue on your particular system. try arturia moog. best of luck.

also their customer support for legacy products is nearly null

Thanks for the suggestion.  I will running it in standalone with administrator setting. I won't have time for another week to mess with it.

Thanks Glyn for the information.  I'll check it out.  Minimonsta looks interesting.  Thanks!

Thanks Gerberbaby for the recommendation to maybe get a chargeback from IK.  I might just do that if my efforts fail to fix it.  Yea, I am not to happy now with IK.  That interface on Sampletank is awful.  Its real hard to read the small print on the red.

SampleMoog works fine for me on Windows 7-64 PC, running Sonar X2-64, and I am not using JBridge or anything else special for my 32-bit plugins.

You might want to try uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling.
Before adding to Sonar, run it as administrator in stand-alone mode so you can take care of any registration requirements.

What are your system specs?
SampleMoog tends to be resource-hungry ~ if you're running with minimum system specs, that could be contributing to your issues.

Also, recommend native ASIO or WDM drivers for your sound card.
In my experience, "fake" drivers like ASIO4ALL aren't worth the effort and unreliability when used with resource-heavy DAWS and plugins.

My PC is a 3GHz dual-core with 8 GB RAM - works fine.

SampleMoog has some AWESOME combi synth patches, so it's worth the effort to work through the issues, IMHO...
